Lech Ski Resort Guide
Lech in Austria (in the Vorarlberg region) is a large resort with 86 lifts that offers skiers an incredible 1000 metres (3281 feet) of vertical descent. Lech has 222 acres of terrain over 54 pistes with a total length of 276 kilometers (172 miles). Lech is only really suitable for beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. There are 20 kilometers (12 miles) of cross country ski trails at Lech. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and a half pipe. A small proportion of the pistes at Lech are covered by snowmaking. The closest airport is at Zurich but the transfer time is 2 hours. The nearest train station to Lech is at Langen. Every year I visit Lech and I'm never disappointed. This year I'm on my third trip, tried everywhere else but keep coming back. Hotel Arlberg and der berghoff my favourites but pricey. Antonius better value found it this year really nice, food excellent not so stuffy. Kristiana used to be good but owner has to much attitude now for my liking plus it's a walk to the lifts. Snow good all season gets slushy in Lech in pm in March so switch to Zurs. Finish your day with the Weiss ring takes you back to Lech via Zug. No more expensive on the mountains than rest of Europe and food much better than France plus no miserable Frenchman who doesn't really want to serve you.
