Hafjell in Norway (in the East region) is a medium sized ski resort with 9 ski lifts (3 chair lifts, 6 surface lifts) that offers skiers an impressive 830 metres (2723 feet) of vertical descent. Hafjell has 23 pistes with a total length of 33 kilometers (21 miles). Hafjell is best suited to intermediate skiers and snowboarders but there is some terrain for beginners and advanced skiers. There are 300 kilometers (188 miles) of cross country ski trails at Hafjell. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and a half pipe. Almost half of the pistes at Hafjell are covered by snowmaking. The closest airport is at Oslo but the transfer time is 2 hours. The nearest train station to Hafjell is at Lillehammer. Hafjell has a limited skiarea, but with a smashing skiing ! The sloopes are very very long making good runs. Some very steep. 50 km north is KVITFJELL incl in liftcard home for Olympic Downhill -92. The downhill race is even more awful to take than Kitzbuhls. After a trtemedous downhill you land in a pub.Then take the lift up again. Close to Kvitfjell is one of the worlds finest oldset STAVchurches from Vikingtime. A nice exiting skiarea. Kvitfjell can be reached by train from Oslo landing by the main lift !!!
