Grand Targhee is a great area. The people are friendly and it's never crowded; not big enough to be a destination resort, but a fine day trip for those staying at Jackson Hole. Snowfall is deep and very reliable. High base elevation at Grand Targhee keeps the powder fresh on sunny days in the spring when lower slopes at Jackson Hole can turn slushy. Groomed slopes are nice but are mostly intermediate and can get boring for advanced skiers. Grand Targhee is at its absolute best after fresh snow when all of the off-piste meadows and glades beckon. Those same slopes can be frustratingly unskiable when the snow is old and cruddy (not a frequent occurence, fortunately).

Went to Jackson Hole in March 2007 with my missus and a couple of friends. The snow in Jackson was pretty poor so we decided to catch the "Targhee Express" and have a day on the other side of the Tetons.
All I can say is WOW! What a place. There was way more snow than at JH and the views of Grand Teton were amazing. Ended up going back two more times and was lucky enough to get there following a heavy snowfall the night before which opened up loads of superb off-piste skiing.
The only downside is that the ski area is pretty small and you can easily ski all the runs in a couple of days. Well worth a visit though!
