Fernie Ski Resort Guide

March 16 – Griz Kidz Winter Carnival
Family fun is coming to Fernie Alpine Resort. The plaza will be a buzz with activities, games and entertainment that the entire family can enjoy! The best part is that all the activities will be FREE of charge.

Mar. 23-24 – Kokanee Retro Weekend
Are you ready for ANOTHER totally bodacious day out on the slopes?! Bust out your one piece ski suits, headbands, spandex and other retro ski gear and join in all the festivities! The Plaza Beer Gardens will be a sea of retro looks as our DJ will be spinning all your favourite 70’s and 80's tracks, as always, along with non-stop Glacier Ice Cold Kokanee! The party doesn't stop there - join us in the GRIZ bar at night for the 4th Official HOT TUB TIME MACHINE celebration party and be transported back to the 80's with your favorite tunes. Word to your mother!

Mar 30 –Cardboard Box Derby
Not only a fun event but a great way to take care of your recycling. Participants recycle cardboard into the most creative of sleds (covered wagons, boats, helicopters the Flintstone mobile and more!!) and then ride them downhill.

Teams construct their sleds out cardboard, paint, glue and tape and cruise gracefully down a ski slope towards a target painted in the snow! This is not a race – there are no points for speed. The entries will be judged based on the construction and creativity of their design along with their accuracy to hit that target in the snow. The crafts can be simple or complex, with up to 4 “pilots’ to help maneuver the craft down the hill. A good time is assured, so get your team together.

Mar. 31 – Griz Kidz Great Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter Bunny will make his annual stop at the resort. Kids see if you can find what the Easter Bunny left behind! Details coming soon!

April 6 – Monster Energy Event
Monster Energy is brining something big to Fernie Alpine Resort. Details are a secret and are being kept in a safe guarded by sharks with lazers on them but details are coming soon…

April 16 –Powder, Pedal, Paddle Relay
Another local’s favorite- the PPP has been going strong since 1984! Teams of 1-5 people ski, bike, paddle & run in a fun (yet competitive!) relay race. Followed by a great dinner & party, this is the perfect season ender!

April 16– Fernival Weekend – Main Band
Fernival is back for another year!! What better way to celebrate the end of the 2012-2013 winter season than with live music and activities!!!
Join us in the plaza on Saturday for the big stage and main act. Previous years have brought us Spirit of the West, Ashley MacIsaac, Trooper and April Wine. I wonder what this year will bring....
