Deer Mountain in the United States (South Dakota State) is a very small ski resort with just three ski lifts (2 chair lift, 1 surface lift) with only 198 metres (650 feet) of vertical descent. Deer Mountain has 700 acres of terrain over 45 trails. Deer Mountain is only really suitable for beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. There are 16 kilometers (10 miles) of cross country ski trails at Deer Mountain. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and a half pipe. Almost half of the trails at Deer Mountain are covered by snowmaking.
