Awakino Ski Area summary
Awakino Ski Area is up the Waitaki Valley, 45 km from Oamaru, in North Otago. It is a good area for intermediates plus there is cross-country touring, for advanced skiers, along the St Mary Range. The slopes at Awakino Ski Area are accessed by rope tows. The accommodation at Awakino Ski Area is available for 30 at the ski field plus there is accommodation in Kurow, 11 km away or one of the larger towns. The 4WD access road may require chains. The season runs from July to October.
