Appi Kogen in Japan (located in the Iwate prefecture) is a large resort with 16 lifts (16 chair lifts, 0 surface lifts) that offers skiers an impressive 805 metres (2641 feet) of vertical descent. Appi Kogen has 697 acres of terrain over 21 pistes. Appi Kogen is best suited for intermediate skiers and snowboarders but there is a also a lot of terrain for beginners and experts too. We have no information about the existence of any cross country ski trails at Appi Kogen. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and a half pipe. The nearest airport is at Hanamaki and the nearest train station to Appi Kogen is at Appi-kogen. There is accommodation located close to the pistes but we would welcome additional information about any hotels or chalets in Appi Kogen.

Just returned from a fabulous holiday at Appi Kogen staying at the Appi Grand Hotel. Appi is a fantastic ski in-ski out family resort with amazing snow, excellent facilities and numerous food options. Incredibly, no crowds whatsoever, at times we skied for 3 or 4 kms without seeing anyone. Weekends are slightly busier with locals but still empty compared to anywhere else we have skied. Things that made Appi stand out from other resorts for us were the indoor pool/spa/gym and onsen options, in house laundry, well stocked and reasonably priced shops, easily accessible heated ski lockers and rental shop (if required) with direct access to slopes, night skiing, friendly multi-lingual staff.
We have already booked for next year.
