Some good steep tree skiing here with no crowds at all (even on weekends). No night life or bars so you make your own fun in an izakaya (casual dining spot). Not as much snow as it's more famous neighbours but seems to maintain snow quality for longer after dumps due to the colder, drier weather. Really quick to get here by train (or drive) from the airport so a good place to start a Hokkaido tour, two days would be a good amount of time here in my opinion, we skied here for four but it was one too many.

Alpha Resort Tomamu has great tree runs with good pitch and very good quality snow. It's a long track out that is very tiring. Food is excellent at Alpha Resort Tomamu and the wave pool is great. Unfortunately, I believe Alpha Resort Tomamu has the worst layout of any resort on the planet.

Our group found this a great place to ski. Not extremely difficult but with excellent tree skiing and very uncrowded even on weekends. With fresh powder a plenty. The staff were very helpful and friendly and they have an enlightened and safe policy regarding out of bounds skiing unlike some other resorts. The snow conditions we encountered were very light dry powder up to thigh deep on one day and slightly less dry on the sunny side but still excellent on another day which was during a time when a warming trend was severely affecting other places.
