There was ice under the man-mad snow that made trying to carve turns difficult and choppy. The place during the week was busy and can't imagine what it is like on the weekends. I am glad I left when I did because it rained all day Friday then was going down to 15 F which would make me think twice about skiing. $22 for a locker was outrageous.

Owner does not disclose bedrooms and bathroom on separate levels; shows pictures of two bathrooms but only 1.5, parking spot was a MUDHOLE NO GRAVEL...be warned if weather is wet and above freezing, my car interior full of mud from taking family to ski and going anywhere. Also for 105 cleaning fee you are expected to wash all towels and washcloths, take out all trash, clean fireplace. Bring extra paper towels and salt and pepper and ice (no ice maker). Other than that, plenty of dishes, etc.

Do NOT use CarolinaStays for your accommodation's!
Do NOT use CarolinaStays for your accommodation's! There apartments although clean, did not have adequate heating units in the rooms! They used 2 small electric wall mounted heating units to heat the entire 1st floor and the entrance door was not sealed against cold air blowing in. No support comes after you call "Jennifer" from CarolinaSTAYS. We asked for small portable heating units, she said only to "pack the front door with towels" LOL!! Inside temperature of the rooms we could get no higher than 57 deg F! The fireplace they advertised is fake. It is the second small electric heating unit that only could blow luke warm air at full power. No support to come on out from CarolinaStays to fix the problems, which forced us to leave after one night! Interesting, as soon as we notified were leaving, a few minutes after our call they did send out a cleaning person to clean and to check up on the apartment. LOL

Very charming community.
Very charming community. We saw deer outside restaurants and on the roadside. Lots of shopping and restaurants to choose. Visiting the Land of Oz was our primary reason for the trip and it was fabulous!
The apartment was clean, spacious and comfortable, we were three people (and a dog) so had to use the living room's sofa/open bed as well, which was in front of the electric fireplace and large screen tv. There was also a patio, and the coolest thing was probably the deer family that came to visit in the morning. The town (Beech Mountain) is a ski resort, we were only there for a night so just passing through.
Hotel was dated but very clean. It has all the basics. We were concerned about not having ac but the box fan in the window made for great sleeping temperature. Amazingly the bed was very comfortable. The location was perfect for Land of Oz. It was close to Fred's for breakfast. Several restaurants to choose from. Close to Banner Elk for more restaurants, entertainment or shopping.
I felt like I was staying at a friends house. The home was stocked very well. They had games and TV with a video game. Although we didn’t play any. Knowing that it was, there was nice in case the weather turned too bad to leave.
It was very close to Beech Mountain, and on my drive in on the last day, I saw at least five deer on the side of the mountain near the condo.
Location is awesome! Beautiful home and was so amazing for our family get together for Christmas. Everything we needed from a warm fireplace, the entire home already decorated, even a giant Christmas tree in the living room & all we had to do was put our presents under the tree.
What we liked the most were the deer that gathered at 4pm for their evening corn. If they got there early, they had to wait. They scattered across the mountain, so I couldn't get many into a shot. The hotel is close to the various restaurants, etc. An easy walk.
If you want a vintage experience, this is the perfect place, everything in the hotel is very old but at the same time very well cared for, and for us, being young, it was a surprising and pleasant experience.
Spectacular mountain views. around the corner from the ski slopes, comfy beds, clean bathrooms & linens. Plus plenty of space for the family to spread out after hitting the slops all day. Wonderful visit.
It was very close to the ski resort and the cabin itself was very comfortable. The fenced in area was great for the kids to run around and the fire pit was fun.
