The air, the tranquility, the local food, the closeness to the capital make Mavrovo an ideal place for a weekend getaway or for a longer stay, in any time of the year. There are several places where you can enjoy a morning coffee, or an afternoon drink and a delicious meal. Plenty of places to visit in this area, great for riding a bike, hiking, or just chill by the lake, you set your own pace and enjoy, it never gets boring, No matter what your definition of a holiday is, you can't go wrong if choosing Mavrovo.

We are in our seventies and have always gone there for the mountain air and the stunning scenery. Have been there several times before, mainly in the summer, but first time at the Radika Resort. Mavrovo is an awesome location. Beautiful walks around the lake. You need your own transport to visit other localities. In general we find the cooking and food in the area poor. Little eateries around the lake not really to be recommended. That’s why poor food at Radika Resort did not surprise. This is why we usually rent a holiday house and do our own cooking. Excellent supplies of meat and veggies can be bought in Gostivar, 16 kilometers from Leuonovo, village where Radika is located.

Mavrovo is a mature resort, and many hotels and facilities are currently being upgraded and updated. The hotels are small and cosy. Many private villas are available for short-term stay too.
The ski pistes are diverse enough, some European Cup races were held there in the past. There are nice facilities around the pistes, several restaurants and huts at the top, night skiing, snow-guns, etc. It never gets overcrowded for skiing.
It is also a popular destination for year-round sports, events and seminars tourism.

What a shame this place is dead this August.
What a shame this place is dead this August. Half the water has disappeared from the lake, leaving an ugly shoreline of plastics and other rubbish. The town is dead, with none of the well marketed activities actually in evidence. It seems those responsible for collecting rubbish are on strike out have been fired because the industrial bins are all over flowing leaving the town with a putrid smell of long rotten waste. Hopefully things will get better before the ski season

Mavrovo is probably the best ski resort in North Macedonia.
Mavrovo is probably the best ski resort in North Macedonia. There are 13 ski lifts (3 chairlifts and 10 surface lifts), the slopes are nice and of various level of difficulty. People who need modern and fast lifts will be disappointed because the lifts here are a little dated. For me instead, this adds a nostalgic vein to the charm of the place. Hotels are at least twice as expensive here compared to the Macedonian standard due to the great demand and the importance of the resort. There are several ski rental shops. The view from the lifts, from the slopes and from the plateau is amazing, especially thanks to the wonderful lake below. A considerable effort is made by the resort staff to keep the slopes, the roads and the public areas clean, but it's almost a hopeless job since the tourists, here as well as virtually everywhere in the southern Balkans, throw garbage everywhere including on the slopes, in the rivers and in the lake.
The host was really friendly and communicative.
She also offered us to use the whole house for the
price of the room, which we had been booked.
The property was quite large, so we had plenty of room.
The location of the property is perfect: it’s in the
heart of the Mavrovo national park. Even the Korab
mountain was in a reachable (1,5 hours) distance with
car. The facilities were a little bit old fashioned but
functional. We could also use the parking lot of
another hotel nearby.
Breakfast and dinner were great. Delicious traditional Macedonian food very well prepared and serves!
The location is the best in Mavrovo.
The hotel is comfortable and has everything you need.
There are nice spots to have sit and enjoy reading a book, play with kids or enjoy the spa.
The staff is really nice, accommodating, kind and friendly.
They are here to answer all your requests and are not bothering you otherwise.
A stunning place. Essentially a small bungalow/studio with the wooden/glass wall looking at the lake. On the first night I had one of the best sleeps in my life (probably because we came from hot Skopje, but still). Fresh air, a 1400 metre altitude lake... Since we came home, I've been sharing the morning breakfast-on-terrace photo with all my friends.
The Apartment is in the middle of Mavrovo, with a nice view of the mountains from the balcony. The only shop of the village is about 20 m away, selling fresh bread and an astonishing range of food for its small size.
The room is spacious, the couch and beds comfortable. The shower provides hot water fast.
The host was very friendly.
The cabin was what you would expect for the price and the location-- an adequate place to hang out and rest after a day skiing. Not very plush, but perfectly satisfactory. If you went there looking for a hotel-like stay, you'd be disappointed. If you accept it for what it is, you should be happy for the price you paid.
The place was good and comfortable. You can see the Mavrovo beautiful lake view. The owner was nice and he responded to every one of our needs kindly. The place has also a coffee machine which works 24/7 and you can drink whatever you want. I will definitely visit again.
The view - amazing!
One of the girl from the staff (the one with the blue eyes) was soooo nice, the other one was so uninterested in her job 🥲
It is a modern hotel, the interior is excellent, the nature around breathtaking, the food is good.
Cozy mountain house on 2 floors, 6 people can be placed without a problem on the upper floor. There is a yard with beautiful wooden benches and a nice view of the lake. The nearest restaurant is just across the road, 100 meters away.
It is designed as a tiny house. Definitely lovely. Our host was great. He welcomed us at the door and helped through everything during the holiday. I recommend everyone planning a weekend tour at the Mavrovo.
The apartments are next door to the hotel, which has just been renovated and has a wellness area, a bar, a very nice restaurant that turns into a live music venue in the evenings. Excellent service too.
Nice, confortable chalet with everything you need. There is very nice restoran "Mavrovski merak" close to chalet with excellent food with resonable prices.
Best choice in Mavrovo. Cozy room, comfy beds, clean toilet. Plenty of amenities and a good choice of food in the restaurant downstairs. Staff is friendly.
Clean room, functional Spa, delicious food and friendly staff. Great value for price. Free parking
Very close to ski center, you can walk with your gear
