It is a lovely village. There are a number of hiking paths nearby. The nature is great and one can enjoy wonderful views. There are nice tavernas with great local food and atmosphere. The local people are very friendly and helpful. There are a few parking lots in the centre of the village.

I liked:
I liked:
The traditional house architecture that has been somehow preserved and gives a unique character to the entire village.
The streams and creeks inside and around the village.
The main square with the beautiful large platanus-sycamore trees.
The views of the Pagasitikos bay from the village.
The view of the thickly wooded forests of chestnuts and walnuts.
Portaria and Makrynitsa and Pelion in general are close to what my idea of paradise is!

I really do not understand why people are going there.
I really do not understand why people are going there.
It is a very small village on the top of a mountain near Volos.Ok, the view is very nice especially during night, but You need to climb the mounting by car and you need 30-40 minutes for 9 km.When you arrive there, you will find many hotels, 8-10 restaurants, 3-4 souvenir shop, one petrol station, one pharmacy and nothing else.

Portaria is a really nice place that combines traditional restaurants with friendly people and a breath taking scenery in the mountains with a panoramic view of Volos. The trail of Centaurs is a must,as well as tasting the traditional sweets of the women's co-op.

All villages from Pelion are extremely interesting and with a local air. The view is just unbelievable. A great rustic experience which a real urban, busy traveler must have. The food, the nature, the panorama, every and each place are just mind blowing. Pelion is not the tourist oriented place, but this makes it even more desirable. So, if you choose Greece and you might need some peace of soul, this is the place.

We stayed at gastronomy hotel Kritsa in front of a 1000 years old Plane tree. The hotel shares a big yard together with 2-3 other small hotels covered by huge Plane trees. It's a magnificent place .
The restaurant is fantastic. We tried different things from the menu, especially the daily menu and all of them exceeded our expectations. The staff is also great! We had a lot of conversations with them and they helped us with all our requests and they are very nice people! The rooms are a good size and have all that is required. We did not spend a lot of time inside the rooms, but the time spent there was ok. I hope to return here as soon as we can to visit more of Pelion!
Excellent breakfast, large spread with variety, although the hotel was almost empty (only 4-5 rooms were occupied during our stay). The staff was very friendly all the time. The room was very spacious and extremely warm (visited at the end of the winter). We stayed for 3 nights, after the second night they changed the towels and sheets without any prompt from us.
the staff went above and beyond to make us happy. they made sure we had breakfast which was wonderful and that we felt comfortable. all the areas you g the hotel were sparkling clean and the towels and linens smelled so fresh! something I haven’t experimented any other hotel..
we will visit again for sure and we highly recommend!
Very welcoming and family-friendly hotel, Yannis and his management team is helpful, kind and willing to provide any
advise and information about Pelion and the area. We had great 3 days in Pelion, based on Yannis guidance and Maps. Strongly recommending Montagna Verde hotel as a perfect base for vacation in Pelion .
Our stay was really wonderful. A picturesque building that's really a pleasure to stay in, modern facilities with everything working perfectly, kind and pleasant people running the hotel and a mouthwatering breakfast with all sorts of savory and sweet delights! Free parking spot also a bonus. Highly recommended
Great Location 5’ from the center of Portaria.
Very nice hotel, nice rooms even the Standard type of room is like a suite. Spacious and clean.
Breakfast is delicious with homemade pies every day.
A must to try is a massage treatment, masseuse is the best!!!
Excellent value for money!
This is a wonderful hotel in a picturesque mountain town. The room was in the older building but every comfort was met. The space was perfect for 2 people and we had a lovely view of the mountain and water. The bathroom was perfectly tiled and clean.
The house was equipped with everything and I really mean everything we could possibly need!
Very clean and the owner was very polite and helpful. The location is perfect to go everywhere by foot in Portaria village. Highly recommended 👌
The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The room was spacious, comfortable and very quiet. The hotel was located close to some fabulous restaurants and when we decided to eat on site we were equally impressed.
Exceptionally friendly and accomodating owner, great location just outside the centre of the village of Portaria, on-site parking, a wonderful view over the gulf of Volos, satisfactory breakfast with tasty products.
Portaria is an amazing place definitely worth visiting. The old building of the hotel is great; comfortable, clean and with a beautiful view of the sea and the towns below. The staff are very helpful and polite.
Breakfast at the hotel was great! Combined with the view and the garden even though my trip was for business, I actually relaxed. The owners were absolutely amazing! They made me feel like I was at home.
The breakfast was great and the woman that prepares it and serves it was the best in this hotel. The room was nicely decorated and the bathroom spacious. The location is very central.
