Right on the central square of Portaria with its shading plane trees, lies the hotel and restaurant Kritsa. It offers romantic rooms, a rich traditional breakfast.

Where to start? This is one of our new favorite hotels in the world. We had a room with a fireplace, and the wonderful staff were kind enough to help us light it. This means we spent every evening cozied up by a fire, in a small Greek mountain village. What a dream. The food was some of the best we’ve had in all our travels. The breakfast is the stuff of dreams—huge variety, with both sweet and savory options, and delicious cappuccinos made to order. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant two nights, and each meal was divine. This was the perfect Greek mountain retreat, and we would love to come back and stay again someday!

We had such a wonderful time at Portaria and at this hotel!
The owner was so nice and made sure we’re happy and comfortable, he also helped us plan our trip in the area.
Breakfast was nice and fresh, there is a lovely outside sitting garden.
Location is right a the village heart and all the restaurants and shops are just 2 steps away.

I liked:
I liked:
The traditional house architecture that has been somehow preserved and gives a unique character to the entire village.
The streams and creeks inside and around the village.
The main square with the beautiful large platanus-sycamore trees.
The views of the Pagasitikos bay from the village.
The view of the thickly wooded forests of chestnuts and walnuts.
Portaria and Makrynitsa and Pelion in general are close to what my idea of paradise is!

I really do not understand why people are going there.
I really do not understand why people are going there.
It is a very small village on the top of a mountain near Volos.Ok, the view is very nice especially during night, but You need to climb the mounting by car and you need 30-40 minutes for 9 km.When you arrive there, you will find many hotels, 8-10 restaurants, 3-4 souvenir shop, one petrol station, one pharmacy and nothing else.

Portaria is a really nice place that combines traditional restaurants with friendly people and a breath taking scenery in the mountains with a panoramic view of Volos. The trail of Centaurs is a must,as well as tasting the traditional sweets of the women's co-op.

All villages from Pelion are extremely interesting and with a local air. The view is just unbelievable. A great rustic experience which a real urban, busy traveler must have. The food, the nature, the panorama, every and each place are just mind blowing. Pelion is not the tourist oriented place, but this makes it even more desirable. So, if you choose Greece and you might need some peace of soul, this is the place.

We stayed at gastronomy hotel Kritsa in front of a 1000 years old Plane tree. The hotel shares a big yard together with 2-3 other small hotels covered by huge Plane trees. It's a magnificent place .
From my whole road trip in Greece, Iatrou Guesthouse has been one of the best.
Marina is so so kind. Even though I have checked in late a night (11pm), she was waiting for me and even upgraded my room for free. I was offered the Suite with hydro massage and fireplace.
Everything was wonderful. The bed is comfortable, the suite is very spacious and clean.
Marina made a home made breakfast that was delicious.
Everything was beyond my expectation. Recommend 300%
I can highly recommend this place!
Very kind staff, nice and cosy place with great view and yard. Amazing breakfast with many choices in a nice and very cosy area next to the fireplace. The main square is next to the hotel, where you'll find taverns, cafes, bars, mini market and kiosk. The village is beautiful with stone walks and creeks and you have an phenomenal view over the bay and the sea.
We've been travelling across Greece at the beginning of August 2021, in the middle of the heatwave.
We had to move from a previous Airbnb house because of the heat (and hornets) and have been able to book a room at the Lotus Tree Archontiko & Pelion Activity Lodge a few hours before reaching Portaria.
Garden seems nice but we haven't been able to take any advantage of it because of the heat.
The location is perfect and next to the restaurants and the central square of the village. The stuff was really kind, hospitable and friendly and the room was very clean with modern design.
Rich and delicious breakfast. We definitely recommend this hotel for your stay at Pelion!
Bonus: there is easily accessible public parking area just a few meters away from the accomodation!
Everything was first rate at this inn, but what really sets it apart is the wonderful host, Katerina, and her beautiful daughter, Violeta. Probably the most welcoming host in our 21/2 months in Greece, she also was right there for us during a potentially serious medical emergency of my wife. Don’t stay anywhere else and be sure to check out her beautiful handicrafts!
Location: Portaria is a great place as a basis for exploring Pelion. The hotel is nicely located within Portaria, walking distance to the main square and also has some (limited) own parking
Staff: very friendly and also professional, trying to do its best to enhance your experience. Unfortunately that is not enough.
This is an exceptional property for the price we paid. A family run hotel, spotless, great location and super friendly and helpful owners. The breakfast is beyond wonderful, filled with delicious home baked options in addition to the normal meat, cheese and yogurt options provided by most hotels.
Stayed there for a couple of days. Hotel is close to the center of Portaria.
Really clean & cozy rooms and facilities, and the staff really kind and helpful.
The spa services, food and breakfast were also great, highly recommend it to try them all. Would definitely stay there again!
Staff is helpfull. Relative close proximity to east pelion beaches and towns and kentaurs path. Nice view. Friendly staff.
Relativly private parking
Nise design to hall
.
Minibar filled with unnecessary stuff. would have been much better if they put a refrigerator instead.
Room was spacious and very clean. Miss Marina was very polite and cooks delicious breakfast. Everyday something different and with own meterials.Place is ideal for someone who wants to visit both Pelion mountain and beaches in Pagasitikos bay.
The hotel is perfectly located in the center or Portaria and it has the huge advantage of providing free parking space nearby. Parking in the area can be really challenging. Breakfast was awesome with so many options.
Breakfast was good & varied. Receptionist (guy-sorry forgot his name) very helpful & knowledgeable re: the area & what to see. Hotel has parking which was essential. Rooms good size & clean. Enjoyed our stay.
Breakfast at the hotel was great! Combined with the view and the garden even though my trip was for business, I actually relaxed. The owners were absolutely amazing! They made me feel like I was at home.
