Kalavrita is a gorgeous town with lots of Greek History important sites, amazing nature walks and hike, lovely very affordable food and welcoming people. Even if you don't ski, as it is known for the ski resort, there are lots of things to enjoy. I will definitely revisit as 3 days at Kalavrita were barely enough.

Kalavrita is a nice town (bigger and more lively then expected... but again not a big town). We found a good restaurant offering a big variety of Greek food.
When we were there after the mid of August there was a nice concert in the main square and there were many people around. The shops were opened as well.
We saw the orthodox Monastery of Kalavrita (it is free) and I recommend the visit, there was a nice atmospheare.

Kalavrita is a nice get away.
Kalavrita is a nice get away. You don’t have to go to ski, just being in the quaint town it’s perfect. Strolls, eating out, there are some awesome places to eat. You can retreat in the warmth of your room. Read, chill or just watch a good flick. Also there are places to see that are not far.

We visited the Holocaust museum, that is realized in the real original school building where Nazist soldiers activated the massacre of Kalavitra inhabitants. Very well organized, effective, emotional
Then, we took the opportunity to jump on the cog train towards Diakopto, and to experience the unique, beautiful and unforgettable walk along the railroad path, with magnific view on the Vouraikos gorge and river.
Excellent dinner at "To Spitikou", with very good fresh Greek food and warm welcom by the host

The best thing about Kalavrita is the train journey up and back down. The town itself is nothing special but the scenery and surroundings are wonderful. Stay at Chalet Azanias. You will not be disappointed.

We arrived in the late afternoon, stayed a day to ride the narrow gauge railway in the gorge, visit the museum, and the Memorial site on the hill. The town is very nice with nice shops and restaurants. It was a bit quiet in October, but we found everything we needed. The train ride was scenic and the museum very interesting if you are interested in WWII history. It's a very sad chapter of history of course, but very well presented to honor the many victims and tell the story. The ride up to Kalavryta from the autobahn is amazing! We didn't get to visit the two monasteries nearby. You may want to consider a full two days if you want to see them as well.
It has everything you need!
fully equipped, clean, comfortable.
location was great, easy to get to the train and the main Street yet private and quite.
beautiful views from the window.
One of the best parts was the host not only very helpful & communicative but also warm and welcoming.
would definitely recommend and come again!
The hotel was situated close to the town centre and was very warm and comfortable. The breakfast was varied and plentiful with very lovely staff. The rooms were warm and spacious with a magnificent view of snow covered mountain peaks. It was near the rack railway and tavernas and coffee shops.
Excellent location, small room but clean.
Good breakfast , especially for a three -star hotel, with several savory and sweet options, also for vegetarians (pre-prepared omelette but with bacon).
Friendly and helpful staff.
For 62 Euro/night, the hotel was satisfactory
The hotel was situated near the main square where local families gathered in the evenings, children playing, parents chatting etc. It felt very authentic and friendly
Lots of local Tavernas nearby. And the spectacular rack and pinion railway to Diakofto on the coast.
I spend few days in Kalavrita in order to better understand the modern Greek history. Vassia and Panos have been wonderful guests. I've meet with very nice people and I am very grateful for their hospitality.
It's very well located, all the facilities are very close.
Excellent hotel at a great location in the center of Kalavryta. The room was beautiful and clean with good view. The breaksfast was very good as well. I would strongly recommend Achillion hotel for anyone who wants to visit Kalavryta.
Mrs. Chrysa is an amazing host, made us feel like home. She was very welcoming and helpful! The location of the Guesthouse is probably one of it's best assets. The view was very tranquil and nice.

It was a clean and very cozy place just in walking distance from the center of Kalavryta. The host was very friendly and welcoming and offered us coffee. Would highly recommend.
The family that owns the hotel accommodated us in every possible way and was exceptionally hospitable. Even allowed us to bring our small dog to the hotel for our stay.
The best room we have stayed at in Greece. It is located in the center of Kalavrita, many amenities in the room and super clean. The kitchen was fully equipped.
great fire and cozy reception, friendly staff and service, relaxed and pet friendly. It felt more like we staying with friends in a chalet than in a hotel.
