Small and idyllic town in north west BC, just by the Alaskan border. You can’t get enough of the serenity and spectacular views with the surrounding snow capped Alaskan mountains. Definitely worth a stay in Stewart.

stewart is a very small, quiet town, with two restaurants and two good food stores, which is all you really need. the side trip to hyder makes it a uniqe experience: we saw a grisly bear and the road to the glacier is nearly overwhelming in it's size and starkness of the mountains.

The historic town is lovely and extremely picturesque. Surrounded by mountains and glaciers which were stunning. Lots of wildlife. Yellowhead helicopter tour was the highlight of our trip. We took an hour tour that covered all the major glaciers and ice fields. Spectacular.

The road through Hyder to the Salmon Glacier is one of BC's most scenic. Be warned though, it is suitable for cars and truck, not trailers. It can be very rough and dusty so you should be prepared to take it easy and enjoy the scenery.

Small, remote BC area with some great scenery and an opportunity to see bears up close in late summer. Road to Salmon Glacier provides an outstanding viewpoint of a very large piedmont glacier that is difficult to surpass (this is after several weeks in Alaska looking at Glaciers.) Fish Creek in Tongass National Forest (bring your passport, you will cross an international border into/out of US going here) provides an outstanding opportunity to view Grizzly bears feeding on migrating Salmon from a safe perch. Food option are limited, particularity on Sunday/Monday, but you won't go hungry.
