Fernie has made a successful transition from a mining town to a destination outdoor recreation center (biking, skiing, climbing, fishing, etc.). Its historic main street has a good variety of small, locally owned businesses with good food and drink, sports shops, and general retail. The people are friendly and very helpful.

We loved the whole experience.
We loved the whole experience. The skiing, of course, is always fantastic, but so was Griz Days (the whole town gets involved). We also attended a sold out Ghostriders playoff game that was really electric and enjoyed some of Fernie's food/restaurant offerings that really compete with the calibre you'd get in any large city.

Fernie has great and plenty of accommodations but with many many construction workers and it being summer I would highly recommend booking far in advance of your stay. The Hostel is rough and the basic of amenities in the room. Take your own towels. Sounds outrageous but we weren't offered towels, what services were available, or offered anything other than the room at check in. I have stayed in hostels that were quite comfortable but I would never recommend the Raging Elk to anyone. There were no rooms available except this place . We had business in Fernie otherwise we would have carried on to Cranbrook.

Fernie is a great little town.
Fernie is a great little town. I liked the shops as they were unique and offered different options. Also liked buying items that were made locally. The mountain view was amazing, loved how the mountains surrounded the town. The bagel shop food was great. I loved the chocolate shop as the chocolate was made locally which is why I made a purchase there. Some of the clothing in stores were very pricey, seemed to be good quality though. Very friendly service experience everywhere I shopped.

We loved this town!
We loved this town! Like Telluride without the pretense and movie stars. And way more affordable! Snow Valley Lodge is amazing with great rooms and tiny houses too... although they were booked. I forgot an item and they saved it for me.
Friendly and beautiful town! And the beer is really good too!
The hotel was in a convenient location, not too far at all from downtown and the staff were polite and helpful, especially the server in the breakfast room on the morning of Saturday March 19th. I appreciated the free parking and Wi-Fi and I have to say the shower was great. Being 6 foot, I always struggle with hotel showers and find they're positioned too low. This shower had great pressure and temperature and the bathroom was spacious. The beds and pillows were comfortable and I appreciated having a reasonably priced pet friendly room.
The room was nice enough; the balcony was right on top of the parking lot, but still offered the view that was promised. Great sushi across the street. Bed was very very very comfortable. The breakfast at the hotel was really delicious with lots of variety in their a la carte options. Had the eggs bennie. Fantastic. Our server was lovely as well.
The hotel hopes to be fully sustainable by 2025 and do not have any single use plastic on site at all and they use solar power for up to 45% of their power. Which is great to know they are doing their part to help the environment. The hotel was clean, hot tub area was super clean and tidy and even the bbq patio was very nice.
There were junior hockey teams there, and the hotel staff kept the noise down! The outdoor hot tub was great. The room was clean. Staff was polite. The breakfast was better than many places. I would stay again if they continue to price themselves competitively. Close to the trails for walking and dogs.
Hotel was a quick trip to the hill in the morning. Close to restaurants and shops ( enjoyed an elk and boar burger at the bridge Bistro, excellent french bakery within easy walking distance). We appreciated the small kitchette. The coffee, bagels and yogurt in the morning helped to get us going.
Great spot in the Fernie area. Right at the base of the mountain. We were there in summer and you can catch the chair lift up for mountain biking right outside your door. Comfy bed and full kitchen which is a nice thing to have. Host accommodated our request for an early check in which was nice.
The rooms were very unique and we loved the style. There was a microwave in our Queen pet friendly room as well as complimentary coffee and a mini fridge. Our stay included use of the hot tub and complimentary bike rentals.
The staff were wonderfully pleasant and the location was absolutely perfect! We especially loved the high quality soaps and hair washes offered by the hotel. That extra little touch was very lovely to see.
Convenient location to town and the ski hill. Reservations lady who helped me was very friendly and originally there was a mistake on my booking and she corrected it without an issue.
great location. you can bike and hike right from there. short drive or bike to town. small balcony to sit outside and have a view of the ski hill and mountain.
