Best place to plan to climb Jebel Toubkal (4160 m) – Morocco’s and North Africa’s highest mountain. Not only Toubkal but many other day trips and hikes can take place from Imlil including visiting Berber villages, with guides who can be hired locally with many different types of trips to meet your needs, horse, donkey or bicycle its all on offer. Note no local ATM machines so take enough cash or be prepared for a short trip to Ansi. Wherever you travel the views are inspiring.

excellent hideaway from the heat of Marrakesh.
excellent hideaway from the heat of Marrakesh.
Zarathustra restaurant cooked us a fantastic dinner, for the right price. We has a look to their rooms, and other that there was no air-con at the time, the style, price and size were very nice. Some of the rooms had shared bathroom.
We did not find good restaurants in Imlil other than the above, though we did not check other hotels and riads. there are some local restaurants that were ok, very local....

Even if you aren’t planning to hike Toubkal, I would 100% suggest Imlil for a quiet weekend to get away from the bustle and bustle of Marrakech. In my two trips to Morocco, I’ve visited Imlil three times, once for a day, once for several days on my second trip just to relax with no plans of hiking Toubkal, and then I returned with friends to hike Toubkal.
My experience with the people of Imlil is that they are genuinely welcoming and kindhearted, not just pretending to be because you’re a tourist with money, as I’ve experienced in other cities. The prices of things are also typically better than in Marrakech overall, although they are still geared towards tourists.
Despite being a few different settlements, Imlil is a small village where everyone knows each other and is happy to help you find what you’re looking for. There are plenty of guides for a day hike or for hiking Toubkal, and whatever lodging you stay at can usually help you find someone to guide you.
Overall, Imlil is my favorite place in Morocco, and coming here feels like returning home.

Incredible mountain village.
Incredible mountain village. The mountains and nature are breath-taking. If you want peace away from it all I highly recommend!
The local people are very peaceful and kind too. Don't be shy to say hello!
One of my favourite places in Morocco so far
We had a wonderful stay at Atlas Dar chamonix. The family received us with great hospitality and warm-heartedness. The house is im Aroumd which is higher than Imlil that means it's perfect to start several hiking tours to the beautiful mountains. At Atlas Dar chamonix you find also a guide for the tours. When you travel with kids we can also highly recomend the place.
We also had dinner there which was the best food we had on our journey through marocco.
Thank you very much for the good time at your house!
We have stayed in a bungalov for 2 nights, arriving late with no issue. Stuff was very kind and let us have a later breakfast as well.
The whole place is clean and comfy. Views are stunning. Location is close for walking to village center, but if you walk it s a uphill trip a bit on foot, but perfect after a meal to walk it off :)
or you can access with a car from above the house, there s a route and parking spots for 3-4 cars. Overall, great stay in Imlil.
We had a wonderful time here. The hotel is actually situated a little way off the road, in the tiny village of Ait Souka on the outskirts of Imlil. Our host Mohammed was waiting for us when we arrived, he helped us with our bags and looked after us very attentively during our whole stay. The hotel is in a beautiful location, with amazing views, clean and beautifully decorated. An easy walk into the main village, but very authentic and traditional.
My stay at Gite Panorama in Imlil was exceptional! The location offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere. The staff (Ismail) was incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home.
The accommodations were cozy and clean, with a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comforts. I highly recommend Gite Panorama for a memorable and rejuvenating stay in Imlil!
Staff were very helpful, the bed was sincerely comfortable, and the breakfast was outstanding! The tajine was also really tasfy and was cheaper than prices offered in town!
The property is located up the hill from the main village of Imlil. Accessible by road with car or there is a shortcut pathway to walk down the hill bypassing the street for those on foot. The path is not on Google Maps but you can see in in the app Maps.me
Location is just excellent, in a little village with goats, cats and chickens running around. Local people being very friendly. Incredible views to the mountains from the terrace and rooms. Very big, comfortable beds. But The highlight of the place is Mohamed who is simply excellent host, extremely friendly, always there for you. Mohamed is also excellent cook(best goat tagine in Morocco)! We will be back!
Abdul is an incredibly kind host; he speaks great English; the location is perfect to access Mount Toubkal from (much closer than Imlil village;) food was super yummy and vegetarian options are readily available. Super clean/well made up room; extremely good value for money; fabulous view of the mountains from communal areas and terrace. I would definitely stay here again if I return to the area in future!
I’m really not happy with you of the hotel maxilla
don’t u think that you should tell people it’s not easy to get there !
I am travelling alone in Morocco 🇲🇦 I am disgusted no hot water for my stay I have used booking for so many times if u check my name b4 was Eileen kiernan
Atlas Prestige was perfect for one night! Our room was clean and comfortable and the location of the hotel was amazing to wonder into Imlil for dinner and for a long hike the next day. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, thank you Youssef!! We loved our stay!
What a fab team that run Les Jardins. Situated high in the valley, it is quieter than some of the hotels in the centre of Imlil. You have fabulous views of the mountains from the terrace.
Food was great, especially breakfast.
Spacious and beautiful rooms, with amazing views of the kasbah. The furnishings are very pretty. The swimming pool must be a plus in the summer. It is definitely the best hotel in the village.
Great atmosphere, super calm and welcoming.
The staff was very caring and helpful to me.
The balcony of the room, with a view on mount Toubkal and the village of Imlil is breathtaking.
Lovely spot. Awe-inspiring view. Best tagine we had in Morocco. Comfy beds. Hot water. Yummy breakfast. Mohammad and Hassan: Thank you for making us feel like we were part of the family!
nice place, amazing view to mountains and to the Imlil village.
we enjoy our stay in this amazing place.
friendly stuff Mohamed and Omar thank you so much for them.

A great stay near all commodities in Imlil village.
The Refuge keeper Mohammed was very nice to us shared with us some of his mountains trekking experiences.
Very basic refuge with hot shower and delicious food cooked by the host at request. It is located in Tamatert, a village 20-minute walk away from Imlil.
