Best place to plan to climb Jebel Toubkal (4160 m) – Morocco’s and North Africa’s highest mountain. Not only Toubkal but many other day trips and hikes can take place from Imlil including visiting Berber villages, with guides who can be hired locally with many different types of trips to meet your needs, horse, donkey or bicycle its all on offer. Note no local ATM machines so take enough cash or be prepared for a short trip to Ansi. Wherever you travel the views are inspiring.

excellent hideaway from the heat of Marrakesh.
excellent hideaway from the heat of Marrakesh.
Zarathustra restaurant cooked us a fantastic dinner, for the right price. We has a look to their rooms, and other that there was no air-con at the time, the style, price and size were very nice. Some of the rooms had shared bathroom.
We did not find good restaurants in Imlil other than the above, though we did not check other hotels and riads. there are some local restaurants that were ok, very local....

Even if you aren’t planning to hike Toubkal, I would 100% suggest Imlil for a quiet weekend to get away from the bustle and bustle of Marrakech. In my two trips to Morocco, I’ve visited Imlil three times, once for a day, once for several days on my second trip just to relax with no plans of hiking Toubkal, and then I returned with friends to hike Toubkal.
My experience with the people of Imlil is that they are genuinely welcoming and kindhearted, not just pretending to be because you’re a tourist with money, as I’ve experienced in other cities. The prices of things are also typically better than in Marrakech overall, although they are still geared towards tourists.
Despite being a few different settlements, Imlil is a small village where everyone knows each other and is happy to help you find what you’re looking for. There are plenty of guides for a day hike or for hiking Toubkal, and whatever lodging you stay at can usually help you find someone to guide you.
Overall, Imlil is my favorite place in Morocco, and coming here feels like returning home.

Incredible mountain village.
Incredible mountain village. The mountains and nature are breath-taking. If you want peace away from it all I highly recommend!
The local people are very peaceful and kind too. Don't be shy to say hello!
One of my favourite places in Morocco so far
We absolutely LOVED our stay at this Riad!! We were treated with such kindness and welcome by Elias and everybody at the Riad, and received all of our meals in the house, except when we decided to eat in Imlil village. The whole experience was fantastic value and has been our favourite booking from our whole trip in Morocco. Also thank you to Lahsen, our guide who so kindly took us on our hike in the mountains, and made our experience even better!
A special mention to Elias for going above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be.
Hasan was absolutely incredible and carried my heavy luggage all the way up to the lodge. He made sure that all the guests were cared for and I was blown away by his hospitality. I loved the communal dining setup as a solo traveler, and it was lovely to get to know the other guests. The food was also delicious. The view from the terraces was one of my favorite parts of the lodge. The lodge is about 40 minutes walking or 15 minutes driving from Imlil. But the walk is beautiful and easy and I highly recommend staying here.
Absolutely everything. This place is incredible and we couldn't recommend it more. The family who run the hotel go over and above to help you and make you feel at home. The food is the best we had in Morocco, and it has the best views in Imlil. The rooms are great too...comfortable, all the facilities you need and awesome views from big windows. Thank you to the wonderful staff for allowing us to stay with you and be part of this special place. Especially for helping us with our car. We really hope to be back one day.
Could not have been better. We loved the experience of living in a little berber village with all the comforts laid on and within walking distance to the centre of Imlil. Spectacular views overlooking a glorious mountain from our private balcony, a wonderful place to sit and soak up the atmosphere. Breakfasts were home-cooked and delicious and home-cooked moroccan dinners were available. Said was a wonderful host, and made our stay there quite a memorable experience.
Really beautiful location outside the center of imlil with the most beautiful views. Imlil center is a 20 minute walk as well
Driss is the host and he is also a tour guide so you could speak with him about taking you on any type of hike including mount toubkal.
The stay was lovely with great hosts. Nice rooms and good food. The mint tea was our favourite!
We did a hike with Driss and got to see all the villages and waterfalls around imlil.
The room was cozy and warm - we stayed at the beginning of March! We could change the room temperature easily (in other apartments we had booked usually it was quite cold even with a heater). Water was also hot.
The breakfast was tasty and fulfilling.
The staff was friendly and helpful. They even gave us pancakes and water for our hike in mountains.
Highly recommend if you want to stay in Imlil.
I really enjoyed my stay at Atlas Prestige Imlil. Everything was excellent and it exceeded my expectations. The room was clean, the food is the top and the staff are very nice, specially Hamis and Mohammed. They were so helpful and always there for you with a big smile. I recommend this hotel for anyone who's looking for the comfort in the middle of nature and with an outstanding view. 5*****
Looking to be outside of busy (touristy) Imlil and right at the base of the mountains for some non-guide required treks. This was totally the place. Very quiet, creek runs right outside the back porch, the most comfortable bed I think I slept in all of Morocco, an excellent view of the mountains from my room, from the terrace, etc. Plan to stay here again next time I'm in Imlil.
Our stay was lovely! has everything one needs to relax and enjoy, rooms are spacious beautifully decorated and clean. Loved all the furniture and decoration throughout the hotel . The food was excellent especially the breakfast and we were totally blown away by the service,
all stuff were kind and worked so amazingly.
Our walks in the Imlil Valley with our guide Hassan were a highlight of our trip. Hassan tailored hikes to meet the needs of our group and we learned so much about the history and life of the Berber people in the valley. For those more adventurous, he also leads hikes up Mount Toubkal.
Excellent manager ,good prices
First of all rafik the manager and his staff was a great help , they are very friendly , the hotel is very beautiful , good location , and wonderfull views , very clean
I recommend it and I am definetly coming back to dar assarou
Thanks dar assarou
Beautiful location with absolutely stunning views. The breakfast was very good. The staff was nice, if maybe not as cordial as in other places (then again, Morocco’s incredible standard of hospitality may have distorted my expectations). Overall a very good stay!
Stunning views of the mountains. Quiet and peaceful. Nice comfy bed. They can arrange taxi to/from Marrakech. Aremd is a good walk from Imlil (and very steep) it is a really small village and doesn't really have any amenities but it is beautiful.
Everything was perfectly organized!
The place have great position near the river and in the heart of the village.
The best place for hiking and Nature lovers with fresh weather in middle of August ✨
R are 1 min walk from the hotel.
The view from the house is exceptional, the staff is very friendly, helpful, and speaks good English. Amazing quality for the money. The best place we stayed at in Morocco.
The view is very good, the accommodation’s condition is nice, staff are helpful and friendly, we got a local guide Hassan from the hotel and he was awesome as well.
A family run hostel with stunning views set in Imlil that is beautifully decorated, comfy beds, delicious breakfast and just a true delight to have stayed at.
