Best place to plan to climb Jebel Toubkal (4160 m) – Morocco’s and North Africa’s highest mountain. Not only Toubkal but many other day trips and hikes can take place from Imlil including visiting Berber villages, with guides who can be hired locally with many different types of trips to meet your needs, horse, donkey or bicycle its all on offer. Note no local ATM machines so take enough cash or be prepared for a short trip to Ansi. Wherever you travel the views are inspiring.

excellent hideaway from the heat of Marrakesh.
excellent hideaway from the heat of Marrakesh.
Zarathustra restaurant cooked us a fantastic dinner, for the right price. We has a look to their rooms, and other that there was no air-con at the time, the style, price and size were very nice. Some of the rooms had shared bathroom.
We did not find good restaurants in Imlil other than the above, though we did not check other hotels and riads. there are some local restaurants that were ok, very local....

Even if you aren’t planning to hike Toubkal, I would 100% suggest Imlil for a quiet weekend to get away from the bustle and bustle of Marrakech. In my two trips to Morocco, I’ve visited Imlil three times, once for a day, once for several days on my second trip just to relax with no plans of hiking Toubkal, and then I returned with friends to hike Toubkal.
My experience with the people of Imlil is that they are genuinely welcoming and kindhearted, not just pretending to be because you’re a tourist with money, as I’ve experienced in other cities. The prices of things are also typically better than in Marrakech overall, although they are still geared towards tourists.
Despite being a few different settlements, Imlil is a small village where everyone knows each other and is happy to help you find what you’re looking for. There are plenty of guides for a day hike or for hiking Toubkal, and whatever lodging you stay at can usually help you find someone to guide you.
Overall, Imlil is my favorite place in Morocco, and coming here feels like returning home.

Incredible mountain village.
Incredible mountain village. The mountains and nature are breath-taking. If you want peace away from it all I highly recommend!
The local people are very peaceful and kind too. Don't be shy to say hello!
One of my favourite places in Morocco so far
Hamid aït Brahim who runs the place is absolutely excellent : Helpful, resourceful, efficient. Can be trusted.
Bathroom decoration.
Good hot water.
Views over Imlil and the mountains.
Cardamon coffee for breakfast excellent.
Breakfast hot drinks available at any time before breakfast.
Excellent terrace.
Warm wood burning stove in January.
Breakfast and dinner food excellent.
All good clean and fresh.
Nice hotel personalised crockery ‘Dar Adrar’ in Tifinagh.
Possibility to leave luggage at the property while out trekking.
Youssef and Houssain are what make Atlas Imoula a fantastic place to stay. They catered to our every need and were extremely attentive and accommodating. The view from the rooftop terrace is exquisite and the beds are comfortable and cozy. I will say that it got pretty cold at night (we were there at the end of October) so bundle up or ask for extra blankets. All in all I highly recommend staying here. Oh and stay for dinner one night and ask Houssain to make you vegetable tagine. His was the best we had in all of Morocco.
Everyone is so friendly, and there is so much food! They all really care that you have the best experience possible. I received a bigger, better breakfast here than at a “4 star” riad in Marrakech—and everyone was friendlier and more genuine than in Marrakech as well. They also helped me find a guide for a short trek I wanted to take over the weekend. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone who visits Imlil. My friend was the one who recommended it to me, and I’m very glad that he did. I can’t wait to visit again!
The view was impeccable. Definitely worth getting the mountain view room! The whole hotel is cozy, comfortable, warm, inviting. We didn't leave the hotel the whole time we were there and enjoyed every second. Brahim and Rachid went above and beyond to make us comfortable always. The fireplace was amazing and we highly recommend Brahim's kefta tajine. This hotel was our only destination in Imlil and we enjoyed the rooftop and scenic views. A quiet, comfortable place to rest. Ideal for a mountain town getaway.
All the food we had was amazing - delicious and plentiful. Mohamed and his team were great hosts, very caring and kind. The property has an amazing view over the valley, in a very authentic collection of local houses (with lots of farmyard animals strolling around nearby!). It's a 35 min walk from Imlil centre, only a very short 5-10 min drive. The rooms were basic but clean, and with nice decoration. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would strongly recommend!
We had a wonderful time here. The hotel is actually situated a little way off the road, in the tiny village of Ait Souka on the outskirts of Imlil. Our host Mohammed was waiting for us when we arrived, he helped us with our bags and looked after us very attentively during our whole stay. The hotel is in a beautiful location, with amazing views, clean and beautifully decorated. An easy walk into the main village, but very authentic and traditional.
The lodge is located in a small village in the Imlil valley. It has multiple terraces which have a beautiful view of the mountains. The carpets and seating pillows create a cosy atmosphere. We absolutely loved the breakfast and dinners and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. We also booked a mountain tour to Toubkal through Mohamed and he was very helpful with the planning and took us to Imlil center by car to meet our guide.
Staff were very helpful, the bed was sincerely comfortable, and the breakfast was outstanding! The tajine was also really tasfy and was cheaper than prices offered in town!
The property is located up the hill from the main village of Imlil. Accessible by road with car or there is a shortcut pathway to walk down the hill bypassing the street for those on foot. The path is not on Google Maps but you can see in in the app Maps.me
stunning location in the Atlas Mountains with majestic views of mount Toubkal from the terrace and balconies.
The Riad is in a tiny village on the mountain face overlooking the picturesque Imlil valley.
Riad is owned and run by the Berber family (Ibrahim, Rachid, Bushra and Fatiha) who are the most hospitable and lovely hosts. you are made to feel at home right from when you arrive.
This was our favourite accomodation in morocco. The hotel itself is very comfortable and cosy while being well priced. breakfast was great and the views were stunning. the sun room is great for trapping the suns heat when it’s chilly outside.
the best part though was Hassan who helps run the place, he is extremely helpful (especially if you want to do any mountain activities)
Such a cool hotel! It looks so nice on the inside, good warm shower, even a hairdryer, beautiful views, friendly staff. Looks pretty new to me. Imlil is easy to reach by car, they are working on the roads that were damaged by the earthquake, but they are very welcoming to tourism. I recommend eating at the hotel, Osama is a great chef and makes lovely soup and tajine.
My experience was great. I did spent 2 nights after all. Omar, Hussein, Ridal and Fadimzara from the staff helped me with everything I wanted, it was just the best service and kindness I could have imagined. The food was really great and also the service. Really like a nice little family there, I really loved the good mood. Will stay here again if I am in imlil.
Imlil is best place in Marocco, and Riad Dar Omar is much cosy and soul Riad in this country!
Fresh air with mountain views, clean and comfortable room, large bed, hot water all the time! And we are very happy that chose this place, becouse we enjoyed our weekend at Riad Dar Omar.
Breakfast and dinner are delicious!
We would like to come back again!
We stayed at some amazing properties in morocco. This was by far the best. You are nestled in the mountains, the staff Mustapha is incredible, friendly and attentive. They can arrange for hiking guide for you and ours was fantastic. Imlil is a beautiful place because of the gorgeous mountains. We are so happy we stayed a few nights
The hotel is simple to find, and it is in the heart of Imlil. Our double room included an air conditioner, a TV, and a beautiful mountain view. Without a doubt, the supper provided at the restaurant was the best in the previous several days in the Mountains. We had a great time in Imlil for one night, and the weather was perfect.
I was made most welcome & everyone was so friendly. The evening meal was exeptional. Rashid & Morton gave me some great ideas for local walks. After exploring Imlil, Rashid organised a guide for me. I spent 3 days trekking with Ibram who was a superb guide & I now have some unforgettable memories. Thankyou!
Everything is amazing , a best place to make detox of your brain I like the view of my room. Mr hassan was really kind person I stay during Ramadan and even I've been the only one on the hotel he make me really a 5 star service. He prepar a delicious Iftar olso.
I would like to stay again and again ❤️
Maybe the best riad we had in morocco.
Mustafa and omar were so nice and helpfull.
Location is amazing with view to tubkal.
Food was great dinner and breakfat.
They made the hamam just for us, it was soooo nice.
Omar gave us tips for the rest of our atlas trip.
Just an amazing place!
We really enjoyed our stay here - great location overlooking Imlil, lovely staff (who are also guides with great local knowledge), delicious freshly prepared food - we had dinner here both nights, and roof top terrace with incredible views.
