Oppdal has many options for hiking around during the summer time, some of those are short distance from the center, some - you need to drive a little bit. It is also a gateway to moose safari (I saw one when walking in the area) and musk ox. Great views to valley from the top of nearby Mountains.

The place provides you with a lot more then you would inspect. There are several stores to get or update equipment for hiking / camping. You find Galleries with great work, there are all kind of options for food in town.
If you want to go out there are multiple bars and places for a drink.
Nice place, will for sure come back.
P.S If you are also a photographer, bring your gear there is no place to buy photo equipment or even SD cards. The local Elkjop is missing it they dont provide any photo equipment.
Camping cottages.
Basic standard but have the important facilities like free wifi, a bathroom with toilet and shower, a small kitchen with cooking plate, microwave, standard kitchenware and a fridge. Staff is very friendly and answers messages in a timely manner. You need to let the hot water run for a minute before it works but then it is good. If you have car it is just 10 minutes from Oppdal centrum and the ski slopes.
The photos were accurate.
We had a room with a view over the mountains.
When we arrived, the staff advised us where we could have dinner and also where we could go for a walk.
The room was pretty big and had a patio where you could sit out in good weather (unfortunately, not our case). We also had a small kitchen and all the dishes/cutlery.
The hotel is situated in the middle of the town, so all of the cafes, restaurants and shopping mall are within walking distance.
Clean and fresh rooms. Good for spending a night along the road. Located right beside the main road (E6) that goes from south to north all through Norway. It is only a few minutes drive from Oppdal, the nearest town. Nearby you can go skiing, cycling, mountain hiking etc. Friendly staff and great food in the restaurant.
A very nice apartment near Oppdal in the scenic environment. Perfect communication with the host. The apartment is fully equipped even for a longer stay. The location is especially great for visiting Dovrefjell attractions (Musk Ox Trail, Snøhetta ascent, Åmotan waterfalls etc.). A car is recommended.
Somewhat surprised at how nice this place was, with the name Touristhotell. But it was clean, quiet, comfortable, and right on the E6 in an obvious ski town. Classy decor. Good breakfast. Couldn't find any negatives. Would certainly stay again.
Everything was just perfect, we did not expect this very high level and were very positively surprised.
A strong recommendation from us to stay overnight and enjoy this hotel with its nice wooden rooms and the superb dinner and breakfast!
We had a great time! The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed to spend a few days in Oppdal! It was possible to sit outside and enjoy the sun. The owner was very easy to talk to and it was possible to rent bed sheets.
Beautiful hotel with flats and rooms located in traditional farmhouse.
Excellent location to visit national parks
Excellent breakfast with highly quality food
Excellent equipment of the kitchen
Lovely and cosy living room
Good location for going to Dovrefjell to look for musk ox and Oppdal itself is a pleasant little town. The room was comfortable and buffet breakfast excellent with a wide choice of hot and cold food to choose from.
Very clean, very quiet even though it was right next to the road. Nice nature and convenient for exploring Oppdal. Water cooker and small heating plate + microwave make it easy to set up a simple meal.
The breakfast and hotel restaurant was amazing. My favorite breakfast on the trip and an excellent dinner for a decent price (compared to other Norway restaurants price wise).
The accommodation was clean and comfortable, we had an enjoyable stay. The centre of Oppdal is an easy walk and contains all the facilities you need for your stay.
Excellent location in the centre of Oppdal, with only a few cabins situated in a quiet green area.
We stayed in Kosekroken, which features a double bed.
