Lillehammer in winter is enchanting - snow covered, charming shops, lots of people around. Walking the town is very interesting - great views of the river valley, interesting architecture. If you like to cross country ski, this is the Mecca! hundreds of kilometers of ski trails nearby, groomed everyday. I was focused on skiing, then an afternoon walk. There are a couple worthy museums. The Olympic Park is a worthwhile climb above town. Otherwise not much entertainment or other sights.

An awesome place to walk into snowy nature.
An awesome place to walk into snowy nature. I wanted snow in the week before Christmas. I was afraid the town would only be suited for ski enthousiast. That was not the case. I made some nice walks into snowy nature in the forest and countryside in and around town. It wasn’t very crowded.
I came to Lillehammer for some old-fashioned Christmas atmosphere. That’s exactly what it provided. A snowy cute town with lights and music everywhere.
The town is dead though after 6 PM. All shops are closed, only restaurants are opened.

Olympic museum was closed ( probably because it was a Monday). I was very disappointed because that was our main reason for visiting. Town is very walkable. Nice to see Olympic ski jump area. Folk museum was closed due to season. Wish they had signs about Olympic venues. We did not know about luge and bobsled track, guessed where skating venue was. Museum should be open more or have resource info available.

Lillehammer is the perfect place for a little getaway if you fancy a stay in a smaller town (but despite the size, it has it all!). Best for it's magical atmosphere leading up to Christmas and for skiing, but lovely any time of year- especially if you're into wintersports, art or just meandering through one of the nicest towns in the country.

Lillehammer is a charming town. Always love to come back.
Lillehammer is a charming town. Always love to come back. Great for walking (even in the snow). Love Maihaugen and the Olympic museum (the Olympics are why I first decided to visit Lillehammer).
I've been there in summer and winter. Could not pick my favorite season. I think one should experience both!

Nice little town even in the autumn when there’s no skiing.
Nice little town even in the autumn when there’s no skiing. A couple of days worth of interesting sights and walks; culture + nature. What’s not to like?
We recommend the little pancake cafe on the Storgard pedestrian street
We did like the hotel. It was spacious and full of guests but quite quiet while in our room. One was on a kind of hotel's outskirts but we didn't mind it. We had some extra walk each day going to and from breakfast :) We also enjoyed New Year Eve with some extra live music played on the scene and hotel fireworks at midnight. We haven't joined a special dinner organized by hotel but for interested it was available for additional fee. We had a great time though!
Right at train station. Allowed us to assemble items for our morning breakfast after we checked it. We had to do so because our train would be leaving before the Resturant was open. They also provided us with a key to pass thru the building to get to the train, again because the first floor of the hotel was locked down tight. No in or out until they opened later in the morning.
Very convenient and a really cool place to stay for train spotters and people like me who enjoy being somewhere a bit different from soul-less hotel chains. Surprisingly peaceful for a train station but probably not the best place for people who don’t like trains. The supper and breakfast choices were good too.
This was the perfect place in the perfect spot. Convenient to the city as well as forms of transportation as it is part of the train and bus station. However, it is very quiet. Rooms are what one would expect for Europe, but still very comfortable. If you come to Lillehammer, stay here.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The hotel was warm and cosy.
The location was perfect, just next to the station and the main street.
The fire and hot drinks in the lounge spaces were a nice touch (although fire was never lit and hot drinks had no caffeine free options)..
A lovely hotel close to the station. The desk clerk was very helpful and allowed me to use their luggage room prior to check in. My single room was comfortable, clean, and quite satisfactory. The breakfast buffet was very good. Easy walk to the rest of downtown Lillehammer.
The staff at this hotel is really friendly and helpful. We arrived early hoping to store our bags and ski for the afternoon. They had a lovely room ready, let us check in early, and gave us tips for the afternoon's skiing. I would stay here again!
Mushroom soup, very high quality food and staff who take care of everything. Portions are generous and tasty. I recommend the hotel to everyone who wants to visit museums and other important historical sites in this central part of Norway.
Right downtown Lillehammer. Huge breakfast spread. Heated bathroom floor. Busy place but room was very quiet. Very small fridge but enough to keep beer and cheese cold. Hotel restaurant closed but many to choose from minutes away.
The hotel is in a great spot, in the centre of town. Breakfast was extensive and delicious. In the week before Christmas it was not very crowded. It had a great Christmas vibe. The room was nice and modern.
Clean facilities, well equipped modern kitchen, parking places close to the entrance, good location only 15 minutes away by car from Hafjell ski center. But on top of that a really nice and helpful owner
I love how nicely done is every detail of the hotel. Very cozy. Very close to the center, or supermarket. It is nice for an active holiday, or also for a more relax time.
We sat outside for breakfast overlooking a small stream which was nice.
The hotel has more character than you find with e.g. the Thon or Scandic chains
