Meiringen is a wonderful place for mountain enthusiasts.
Meiringen is a wonderful place for mountain enthusiasts. It is not nearly as touristic as the nearby Interlaken and offers the chance to enjoy nature including Reichenbach falls, glaciers and the Aare Gorge cozily. A perfect escape location with a real Swiss spirit.

It was a lovely town unfortunately due to the Covid restrictions most shops were close. However Meiringen is centrally located to Interlaken, Lucern, Grimmewald. All within driving distance. Will visit again in summer , hopefully the covid restrictions are no longer there

Meiringen is a quiet community, but for travellers like me, it's perfect. I use a Swiss Travel Pass so visit different places everyday, some quite far away. I've visited Switzerland 17 times and am already planning my net trip.

Super nice comfy small town, located in a very beautiful valley with several waterfalls, from which the most famous one is Reichenbach waterfall (Sherlock Holmes). Mountains are very beautiful, many hiking opportunities.

Charming town, great access point to mountains and close enough to Interlaken that you can access activities there but enjoy a quieter and more relaxing location as your home base. There’s also lots to do in the town including the Sherlock Holmes museum and lots of cute shops.

The scenery is just superb.
The scenery is just superb. I enjoyed hiking in the mountains above. The area is moist and green, and the aquamarine stream flowing through town from the Aarve gorge is very picturesque. I admit this was not my first time here. The only real issue was getting here and back from Geneva, which involved too many changes of train (four times on way back! - a problem when connections are tight and carrying a heavy suitcase)
Due to unforeseen circumstances I arrived in Meiringen without a place to stay. But I was in luck, because this apartment was available. Within minutes after I had booked Herr Von Bergen arrived with the key and showed me around this perfect apartment. Everything you could possibly need is there - the kitchen is fully equipped with more cutlery plates pots and pans than I have at home, there is a fancy coffee maker with a complimentary tin of beans, an oven and even a microwave oven. I had a great stay, and enjoyed every minute.
It is one of the best hotels I stayed during my trip. Of course, I will not forget the owner of the hotel and his wife, who provided us with a service that was above excellent, and gave us daily advice about tourist places and the way to reach them. Of course, the hotel has a restaurant that has been recommended by Michelin. Finally, the location of the hotel is very, very beautiful and close to many beautiful tourist places.highly recommended hotel and restaurant.
There was nothing to like about this hotel - i have stayed in over 200 hotels and apartments in switzerland over the past 20 years, and this is hands down an absolutely worse value in the whole country. I can only guess how the relatively positive "rating" was organized... I paid CHF150 a night. For 25% more you can stay in best 4-star hotels in Meiringen, for 25% less - in "cheap lodge" (that feels like a palace in comparison).
A very comfortable stay in a convenient location that is about 5 to 10 mins walk from Meiringen station. Ursula was a very friendly and thoughtful host who made my stay there extra enjoyable. I had the luxury of a fully functional kitchen with the much valued expresso making machine. I also enjoyed dining at the small table outside of the property while admiring the mountain view.
This property is located in a very convenient location, only 5 Minutes walking to train station. Room was very comfortable and clean, has everything we need.
Ursula, the host has taken care us very well. We felt very welcomed to her place. If we will be in Meiringen again, this is definitely our first choice 😁 Thank you very much Ursula
It`s an apartment, not a hotel, so I realise it comes with pros & cons.
Pros; Adequate size apartment, big balcony and quite new so everything works and looks good. In the centre of Meiringen so a short walk to the train station, supermarket, restaurants, bars, bakery etc. The onsite grill had good food and pleasant, helpful staff.
We loved the property. We stayed 5 days and everything was excellent. Very clean, comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. Beds and living room comfortable as well. Great host welcomed us and know the area well. We were there on a cycling tour and Meiringen is a great location to base your cycling in this area.
Very nice hotel! Well-equipped kitchen, TV, WiFi, and everything we needed. The view is just perfect. Especially, I can recommend this hotel to the fans of Sherlock Holmes :) The hotel is just five feet to Reichenbach waterfall. We had a great hiking there. Recommended!
Location, room size, cleanliness, staff is great, owner Simon is very helpful, advised on places to visit, very close to guests and their request, Breakfast very good, eating in the hotel is a special treatment, very good taste, nice presentation. Thanks Simon.
The location is beautiful. We could see a waterfall from our room and saw a beautiful sunset from the play area behind the hotel. Dinner was delicious.
