If you are travelling by train and have luggage, consider getting off at Bernina Diavolezza and getting the bus. I believe this is the recommendation for the winter when the path down to the station can be impassable due to snow, but I would recommend it anyway. I'm already planning to go back in the winter. Due to snowy conditions, we had to leave our car to lagalp station and the staff arranged a shuttle service to pick us up late in the evening. We are extremely thankful for this.
