It was difficult to find a restaurant in the area for dinner, but we finally found one in a neighboring town (Shiozawa). There is a well-stocked supermarket and many pharmacies for daily needs. We enjoyed spring skiing at Kagura and want to go back during the winter season when there is more snow. It's better to have your own car to get around the area.

A ski resort town just an hour away from Tokyo, the bus terminal side of the station got a good old Japanese vide to it, and the back is more tourist centric, the closest resorts, gala, and Kogen is smaller than expected with crowed narrow runs, but with a 20 mins bus ride you can get to kagura, which is a bit old but with wide and good runs of all difficulty, and you don’t need to wait for any lift

I go to Yuzawa during winter.
I go to Yuzawa during winter. Naeba is my go-to place for snowboarding. It has excellent slopes for beginners, and also some tight curves for the more advanced. It's a little village, public transport is reliable but not frequent; so make sure to check the time table.

Breakfast was great.
Breakfast was great. Japanese style breakfast with many choices to choose from. The only thing I didn't like was the futon style beds on the floor. I just had knee surgery in March and getting off the floor in the morning was difficult. Staff very friendly and spoke english.

Excellent visit.
Excellent visit. New finds were a) spaghetti restaurant within station called Uonuma Italian Grill & Dining. Best spaghetti I've ever recall having b) electric-assisted bikes for rent next to station. Critical given the hills in the area. And priced very reasonably. I was able to tour the town for the first time.
An old-style hotel with friendly staff. I stayed on the Japanese Style room and it is very spacious, with a private bathroom, all facilities and furnitures. Good for a family but too big for a solo traveler. The breakfast was good also. The price is honest for the location and also for the fact that it is out of season.
The owner accommodated our request for late check-in after the front desk is closed. We were able to pick up the room key and show ourselves in. Thank you!!
Great location, spacious room and super cheap ski rental on the site (half the price compared to rental options at the ski resorts). Overall very satisfied.
Incredible value for money. Hotel was in walking distance to Naeba Ski Resort, and had clean and comfy beds and rooms. The owners also rented ski equipment and provided lift passes at a very affordable price, and provided pick up and drop off when we were going to and leaving the property.
The owners were really kind and helpful! The breakfast was also on point and I enjoyed it a lot. My room was spacious and it was nice to Japanese-style hotel experience. Overall, the price is really good for what you get at the hotel as long as you are okay with shared toilets and baths.
Great location next to Mitsumata Ropeway for skiing at Kagura (or buses to Naeba and lots of other Yuzawa area resorts). Family run and very welcoming atmosphere. Renovated room was comfortable with modern bathroom. Great discounts on lift tickets for skiing and the onsen nearby.
Great location, amazing hospitality. I was having hard time walking back to the hotel due to snowboarding injuries. A staff member offered to drive us to the train station and helped us load and unload our luggages which was incredibly helpful for our situation.
Hotel breakfast was very good, served in the dining room in the second floor, three sittings (7:30, 8, 8:30, you pick a time in check-in). Ladies Onsen was lovely, both an indoor and a screened outdoor Onsen, very relaxing. Tatami mat room with futons.
The staffs are friendly and helpful. I love their shuttle service to different ski resorts and the train station which made our ski trip much more easier. Also, the environment was clean and I was comfortable to use the shared toilet.
super clean at all times, spacious, new and renovated bathrooms/rooms, free laundry, friendly staff, 7 minutes on foot to ski resort, entry ticket to free onsen every night. you can add a breakfast+ dinner meal plan for 2000 yen.
1) Close to station
2) Close to ski/snowboard rental shops
3) Convenient bar/food/shisha right downstairs
4) Mini onsen for a quick relaxing bath
5) Great for a night's stay
Proximity to the slopes was good but there was better skiing on another part of the mountain. The slopes from this hotel were very crowded and off-piste options not as good.
