I did a one day trip, I went there just because of the naturals onsen, and it was the best decision, I arrived about 10:00 at leave at the same time of the next day. Honestly I don't think is a trip for more than 3 days.
Gero is a beautiful city, it has a few museums that can be seen in one period of the day. As the city is small, it doesn't need car or bus to go around if no one has fiscal disabilities.
This was my second time at Japan, and I regret not going to Gero the first time as well.

The staff were all very kind and helpful to welcome our big group of my family, 14 of us including 6 children. We all enjoyed the authentic ryokan experience. The meals were delicious. We will definitely go back!

Out of all the places we ate in, I think we enjoyed eating in Unasho the most. They serve unagi, which is a specialty of Nagoya, their neighboring prefecture. There are some negative reviews about unasho, about how it's not value for money, but I don't think so. On our return trip, we passed through Nagoya station and ate in one of the famous unagi places in Nagoya called Maruya Honten. We preferred the unagi from Unasho, it was cleaner and prepared better because you felt the fishbones less in your mouth when you chewed.
The hot pudding from Yuamiya was TO DIE FOR. We came back twice to the shop during our trip so that we could eat it again and again.

If you love pudding, onsen or frogs, Gero is definitely the place to stay! The hot Hida milk pudding is absolutely delicious. There is a cute little frog shrine and lots of frog related souvenirs, cookies and street decor. There are public foot baths, great hot sprins and enough places to get a decent snack.
I can highly recommend La Vita e Bella. This is an italian place in Gero. The staff were absolutely adorable. They spoke English really well and they actually had a proper English menu.

Gero is located in the Center of the Gifu Region. Small and very beautiful place, with unforgettable landscapes. The hot springs are scattered throughout the city and you can use them all the time. It is possible to walk the entire city on foot. Plenty of restaurants and shopping options.

In Gero itself there are just a few sights to go to. However you can easily stay there to discover Takayama or other close sights. Also there are every hot springs were you can either dip in your feet, hands or just jump in with whole body.
The Personal was really nice and friendly, the Inn is located right besides a Family mart and otherwise Central enough to reach every place of interest in about 10minutes. The rooms are really nice, and comfortable and offer tea, a private fridge , bathroom, and a small side room to sit at a window, which was great. The onsen is located on the rooftop and was really relaxing, we used them multiple times, even while also visiting some of the public onsen in Gero. All facilities were also clean and tidy. Overall the stay was a real highlight.
-great hospitality, able to communicate in Eng or using gg translate.
When we were leaving, they even came outside to say goodbye ,also standing and waving until our car gone.
- This hotel has to carry suitcase up one floor, but they helped to carry all the way in and out.
- Big private dinner and BF room for each family.
-River view from the room.
-Coin laundry nearby outside the hotel.
-Quiet area at night.
Beautiful hotel and beautiful room. We stayed in a room type with private indoor bath. The facilities and the services are exceptional. The staffs are very helpful. One of the person in our group has a medical condition that doesn’t allow her to have dinner before 8.00 PM. The hotel staff was very understanding and arranged dinner for us at 8.00 PM and we are really grateful for that.
It was a 2 minute walk from the station. Our host was very helpful with allowing us to leave our luggage there earlier in the day before we checked in and he made good recommendations on where to visit. We got the onsen pass ♨️ and where able to enjoy some very relaxing soaking.
The facility was very quiet and a great value for our money.
The staff are amazing, the outdoor hot spring is truly beautiful at night, and the included meals are incredible. Because it is smaller than many of the resort hotels, you feel like you are getting the full Ryokan experience. The staff knew who we were our entire stay.
Every part of the inn was clean and well-maintained.
The hotel staff were very welcoming and even offered to look after our baggage before the check-in time.
There's also a universal charger, humidifier, and blow dryer in our room, so it was very convenient.
Good onsen and great breakfast. Would be better if the hotel could allow some flexibility for half-board in case guests could not arrive before 7pm. We could have booked half-board but dare not do so for fear of flight/transport delay.
The hotel is really cozy and comfortable. The hostess is kind to us and offers us a drive to the station. The onsen is great and breakfast is great. We had a great time here and will come here again next time!
The private indoor hot spring was a great touch, but the open-air onsen was truly on another level. I want my wife to give birth there but the baby probably wouldn't like that, and neither would the newborn
The inn is new and very clean. It is a good way to experience a traditional Japanese-style room at a very attractive price. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will stay here if I visit Gero again.
