I love to ski at Åre and go annually.
I love to ski at Åre and go annually. The mountain is excellent with a large variety of terrain. I mostly ski advanced terrain but there is also a nice mix of intermediate and beginner slopes. For advanced skiers, head to the VM:8. Its worth trying Duved for Intermediates and Björnen for the beginners. I usually go on the train from Stockholm which is very convenient and fast to go city center to town center. It's really nice to stay in Åre By where there are restaurants and stores. Apres ski at Fjällgården and Årehyddan are great as is the atmosphere at Broken.

Are was great, but the surroundings were amazing.
Are was great, but the surroundings were amazing. Loved staying in the town near the funicular railway, however, we were XC skiing so had to drive to the resorts. Skiied at Bjornen, but the real secret is to drive out to Valadalen which is magical. Beautiful scenery, clean air, very few people and fabulously maintained ski tracks.

Pretty nice place for cross-country skiing! The trucks in Bjornen are very well structured: 1,3,5,7.5,10 and 15 km, with and without steep slopes. Glogg was served for free on the Christmas Eve. Very good cafes and ski rental services.

Excellent location for anyone looking for some adventurous...
Excellent location for anyone looking for some adventurous outdoor activities. Beautiful scenery, fresh air and a very pleasant atmosphere. My favorite locations include Åreskutan (the peak of Mount Åre) accessible via cable car or hiking, the chocolate factory and also the waterfall Ristafallet located about 15 km from Åre.

Åre is an amazing skii resort, we go every year. From London you can fly to Trondheim and rent a car and drive to Åre or take a connecting flight from stockholm. Åre is very child friendly, relaxed. Easy to get around. Perfect with a little bit older kids if you are skiing. Feels very safe and I never worry about leaving kids ( 11-13 ) around by myself. Are, Bjornen is the perfect ski resort for families.
Are, Bjornen is the perfect ski resort for families. Our 6yr old had a wonderful time! The staff are wonderful and the whole resort is very child-friendly. The runs are wide and this made it possible for our 6yr old to manage red runs by the end of our weeks stay. There is a free ski bus which takes you around to the other areas (eg. Are and Duved). It took us between 1.5 - 2 hours to ski from Are torg back to Bjornen.

Classic Scandinavian mountain lodge with a great restaurant and bar. Very friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Despite it's situation a long uphill from the town, it's easily accessible with out a car thanks to the old tram that's free for everybody with a ski pass as well as the hotels guests. And you can basically get on the lift straight outside the front door.ErikSweden

Well sound-insulated from theneighbours. Some 20 minutes walk to the nearest lift and the village centre. The Holiday Club Eatery was expensive and not particularly delicious, better go for the willage to eat out. Main stores and train station 5 mins walk away.
