Room was very spacious and cosy, with nice traditional Japanese sweets and delicious green tea provided. The view overlooking the river behind the accommodation was lovely, especially during winter with snowfall blanketing the landscape. The onsen was clean and well-maintained.

I was originally staying for two days but I was lucky that there was space for me to stay an extra night. It meant I could travel to Aizu Wakamatsu and Nanukamachi on one day and then cycle half way around the lake on the next day. Then the arrival day i went up to Goshikinuma ponds and walked the nature trail (stunning) and I just chilled at the lovely guest house after lots of travelling! Inawashiro is very quiet but lovely scenery with a great beach by the lake. You do need a car or bike to get to it though.

I just loved the whole experience, from the staff and owners, to the food and hot spring. They basically provided everything for us for the utmost comfortable and relaxing time of our lives. I know it sounds corny but if you want to stay in n authentic Japanese ryokan/Onsen style hot spring I’d come here. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the location. It was so far from the main tourist area, that we had to take a bullet train. keeping in mind that we still had to pay for stay, price wise it was not the cheapest to say the least. But it’s definitely worth the experience. Plus they pay for your taxi trip there and back and they give you a parting gift, which I thought was so cute and super sweet! So it is worth if you’re up for an adventure!
