Nozawa Onsen was readily accessible by fast train and a bus. The Village had good amenities including a variety of eating venues. A free shuttle bus went around the town and to the ski fields every 15 minutes. The ease between getting between the Village, ski fields and accommodation was exceptional. There was even a travellator for going up to the snow and back to the town. The snowfall was excellent particularly as our visit was late in the season in mid March.

Amazing ski resort with great snow and very friendly personnel. Everything worked nicely and the small town center is lovely. Streets can get narrow so make sure you have parking in advance if going by car. Also check distance from ski lifts.

Beautiful, clean inn with wonderful hosts. Great common premises, especially the kitchen, which is great for breakfast (you can buy coffee pods at cost from the host). The futons were very comfortable. We hope to return! Recommendation for future guests: try to make reservations for restaurants for your entire stay once you arrive (and the inn staff can help) to avoid lining up in cold weather.

If you rent and store skis around the corner at Thanx it is truly ski in ski out...and there are good coffee options on the short walk. Large room, thoughtful staff (thanks Tomi), in house onsen, and easy access to everything. Location always needs some compromise in Nozawa onsen. After several visits we have settled on easy access to the Nagasaka gondola in the morning....and a walk up the hill home from dinner as our preference. We would definitely stay here again.

We received an introduction to Nozawa Onsen at the very beginning and it saved us plenty of time. We enjoyed tasty food in the village. There was a kids play room, that my little one enjoyed very much. Although it was very simple. The Japanese style breakfast was very tasty, not too hard for a foreigner. Also there was coffee and cornflakes. It was close to the center of the village and the ski park.

The main thing I wanna point out is the service - Kadowaki-san was such a fantastic host, helping with gear rental, recommendations, and general inquiries. It was very nice to talk to as well and very efficient with Google Translator :D. I was in Japan for 2 weeks, and this was by ease the best place I stayed at. This is important for people who are carrying large luggage and have to walk from the bus stop to the hotel, because it is not easy to drag luggage in the snow. And Located in the busier area of Nozawa, it is very convenient for dining and many public onsen around. Here is my first option while I stay in Nozawa. The lodge is perfectly situated near many restaurants, a 10 minute walk to the mountain and near the bus station. They serve a Japanese or Western breakfast for a great price.
