Nozawa Onsen was readily accessible by fast train and a bus.
The Village had good amenities including a variety of eating venues.
A free shuttle bus went around the town and to the ski fields every 15 minutes. The ease between getting between the Village, ski fields and accommodation was exceptional. There was even a travellator for going up to the snow and back to the town. The snowfall was excellent particularly as our visit was late in the season in mid March.

Amazing ski resort with great snow and very friendly personnel. Everything worked nicely and the small town center is lovely.
Streets can get narrow so make sure you have parking in advance if going by car. Also check distance from ski lifts.

Beautiful, clean inn with wonderful hosts.
Beautiful, clean inn with wonderful hosts. Great common premises, especially the kitchen, which is great for breakfast (you can buy coffee pods at cost from the host). The futons were very comfortable. We hope to return!
Recommendation for future guests: try to make reservations for restaurants for your entire stay once you arrive (and the inn staff can help) to avoid lining up in cold weather.

Stick to businesses owned and operated by local Japanese.
Stick to businesses owned and operated by local Japanese. Those owned by foreigners are often over-priced with inferior service....sure you might get to speak English, but stay home if that's important...;)

Amazing and cute little village!
Amazing and cute little village! Ski hill is great too (needs a bit more English signage). Be sure to book any of the nicer/better restaurants way in advance! These book out quickly (Aussies book these places out!)

An amazing and authentic Japanese experience.
An amazing and authentic Japanese experience. The rooms were brilliant and the Onsen was next level luxury. Made the whole ski experience a pleasure being just a short stroll from the Yu road travellator access. Highly recommend it
the location was great. About a 5-minute walk to the Nozawa Onsen Nagasaki gondola. It was also pretty well located in the city and close to several hot springs in the area. I think there are more than 10 you can go to for free. There is also a spring in the bathing room that can be used in the evenings. The area and the hotel are very quiet and quite relaxing. There is also space in the basement for your snowboard or skis, drying racks, and a changing area. All in all quite good with location, services etc.
Location is 15 metres from gondola building, 100 metres from free shuttle bus stop,
Good drying room, spacious room, Japanese style breakfast and dinner also available
** Getting to Kawahiro**
There is a free shuttle bus that from the Chou Bus Station (usual arrival point) to the Nagasaka Gondola, the hotel is about 100 metres from this stop and directly opposite the Nagasaka gondola building. It’s a big yellow building with no English signage and the entrance is on the side of the building.
I enjoyed everything about this stay. The room was very cozy, and their was an onsen inside the guest house as well. The main thing I wanna point out is the service - Kadowaki-san was such a fantastic host, helping with gear rental, recommendations, and general inquiries. It was very nice to talk to as well and very efficient with Google Translator :D. I was in Japan for 2 weeks, and this was by ease the best place I stayed at. Will definitely be back to this place and highly recommend it.
Great location, right nearby center and bus station, 10 min walk to the gondola if you avoid carrying your ski equipment (you can leave it at night at some of the ski rental shops there). Comfort level good for such minshuku style hotel, everything looks clean and fresh (incl. freshly backed bread in the morning which was so tasty ;) and staff is very nice, fluent in both Japanese and English on top.
The place to stay in Nozawa. The staff are so helpful and the hotel is lovely. Rooms are massive and the breakfast is delicious.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they are knowledgeable with all the tips and tricks. All English speaking and a younger demographic.
Was a delight to stay and I will be back for sure.
Hotel is close to ski gondola, staffed with locals (Nozawa onsen otherwise feels more like Australia thanks to many season workers). Room feels cozy and bed is very comfortable. Hotel has a vending machine with alcoholic beverages (beer, strong...) which is a feature as restaurants in the village generally close early.
Everything! Our room was beautiful and very warm. The owners are a lovely couple that made us feel very welcome. We had a wonderful Japanese breakfast there made with locally sourced ingredients.
The hotel is decorated with photos of a pro slalom skier that’s the couple’s son which is a wonderful touch to the place.
The location was ideal as it was just a minute away from both rentals and the gondola. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was delicious every morning. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating any time we needed anything. We will return there when we visit Nozawa Onsen next time.
Owner is very friendly and patience with our request and questions about Nozawa town. Also given us clear information about ski rental. She even guided us to purchase discounted lift tickets from Japanese tourism website. She made us felt very welcoming and enjoyed our stay throughout. Thumbs up
This pension is managed with warmhearted hospitality for the no-nonsense traveler who likes a vintage style authentic environment. Don't skip the Japanese breakfast and follow the host's excellent tips for dining around this hotel. The terrific Nozawana Onsen public hot baths are nearby.
Amazing hotel with super super good professional staff. Room was perfect super clean and confortable with a good bed and view . Design’s really nice and private Onsen very confortable. Breakfast huge and super quality . Thanks to the Chief. Manager’s really nice guy and efficient!!
Near bus station and town
(So a bit walk up to gondola and slope )
Stay in 2 room type Japanese and western both have quiet environments (maybe depending on neighbor ) large room , onsen in the hotel is very convenient. 💖💖 Would stay there again if i’m in Nozawa
Booked for other family......this is their review (completing for them).
Accomodation owned and operated by local Japanese is far superior - with regard to service, quality, experience and value for money. Particularly important in snow regions.
Low-key, friendly staff, impeccably clean, nice attention to detail. Perfect location away from the busiest streets and within an easy walk from the ski hill. Appreciated the binders with restaurant recommendations and maps to find onsens.
-Very friendly and helpful staff (booked restaurant for us, drove us to the ski rental shop on the first day, etc.)
- new hotel and very clean
- good living room with nice view
- good value for money in Japan
- near Kongo food court
Room and shared areas (bathroom, shower room) were clean.
There is a room to leave your ski gears.
The hotel is closed from the free shuttle bus bringing to the ski resort entrance.
Centrally located in Nozawa Onsen. Amazing Japanese breakfast. Onsen on site. Able to hire ski equipment from rental owned by same people at Hikage station.
