Amazing ski resort with great snow and very friendly...
Amazing ski resort with great snow and very friendly personnel. Everything worked nicely and the small town center is lovely.
Streets can get narrow so make sure you have parking in advance if going by car. Also check distance from ski lifts.

Beautiful, clean inn with wonderful hosts.
Beautiful, clean inn with wonderful hosts. Great common premises, especially the kitchen, which is great for breakfast (you can buy coffee pods at cost from the host). The futons were very comfortable. We hope to return!
Recommendation for future guests: try to make reservations for restaurants for your entire stay once you arrive (and the inn staff can help) to avoid lining up in cold weather.

Stick to businesses owned and operated by local Japanese.
Stick to businesses owned and operated by local Japanese. Those owned by foreigners are often over-priced with inferior service....sure you might get to speak English, but stay home if that's important...;)

Amazing and cute little village!
Amazing and cute little village! Ski hill is great too (needs a bit more English signage). Be sure to book any of the nicer/better restaurants way in advance! These book out quickly (Aussies book these places out!)

An amazing and authentic Japanese experience.
An amazing and authentic Japanese experience. The rooms were brilliant and the Onsen was next level luxury. Made the whole ski experience a pleasure being just a short stroll from the Yu road travellator access. Highly recommend it

This was my first trip to Nozawa Onsen, but I have been to...
This was my first trip to Nozawa Onsen, but I have been to Niseko many times. Nozawa Onsen feels like a magical piece of Japan history whereas Niseko is more glitz and glam and shiny. I like both and think skiers/snowboarders that visit Japan should try both. Niseko is like the fancy new mall that has everything, but also expensive and requires paid parking. Nozawa Onsen is like finding an old boutique with the same owners for 30+ years. It's got more charm and stories to tell.
Also, the public onsens are a great experience. Walking around the village during/after fresh snowfall is a real treat too!
the location was great. About a 5-minute walk to the Nozawa Onsen Nagasaki gondola. It was also pretty well located in the city and close to several hot springs in the area. I think there are more than 10 you can go to for free. There is also a spring in the bathing room that can be used in the evenings. The area and the hotel are very quiet and quite relaxing. There is also space in the basement for your snowboard or skis, drying racks, and a changing area. All in all quite good with location, services etc.
Great location. Only a minute or so walk to the main street. It's a 10 or so minute uphill walk to the gondola base, but at least there are ski lockers there to make this easier. It's very traditional and the rooms are warm and comfortable. The photos here and on the website are not great and as other people have said it is much nicer in real life. It's good value for money.
It’s really ski-in/ski-out accommodation. I’ll highly recommend for digital nomad or who just wanna go snowboarding every single morning on onzawa Yuzawa snow resort and doing work at night!
The owner is nice, friendly and she can say basic English all you need for just snowboarding and get hot spring over there! I’ll definitely visit her again!
The offered breakfast for Y1,000 was fantastic. Filling and a range of Japanese breakfast offerings. Location was good, with a bus stop right on the corner of the hotel location. Bus could take us into the city centre or up to the snow lifts but stops at 5pm, keep that in mind. Host was fantastic, always friendly and helpful service.
This place is by far one of my favourite places in Nozawa. The location is perfect, everything walking distance. The room has an authentic Japanese feel to it. There aren’t a lot of rooms, so quiet and peaceful. Lastly, the mother and daughter are amazing people and very helpful. I’ll definitely stay here again.
Breakfast was delicious. The spread was simple but sufficient. Great start to each day.
Excellent service with the team very helpful with queries I have about bookings in the area. There were some problems with the booking early on before the trip but they were very friendly and helpful in resolving it.
Overall, it s such a great experience for us. The hotel is 100% like the pictures. Location is about 5 mins walk from the Bus terminal and about 10 mins to the ski area. They hotel offers two nice private onsens per a reservation. All staffs are very helpful, especially, a Japanee guy. Highly recommend.
Perfect location for ski-in, ski-out access. Fabulous staff, good included breakfast, free over-snow shuttle for access to the main Nozawa Onsen village. Small onsen within the building. Lovely spacious rooms (in shared facility areas)
Well located, cozy, clean and good vibe. The Japanese family room had a great feel and was comfortable. Shared clean bathrooms with all amenities needed. they provided baskets for Onsen. Nice breakfast. Super kind an helpful staff.
The owners are so lovely. Very welcoming, happy and accommodating. The property is fabulous, super warm and cosy! Rooms are big and offer exactly what you need. Hotel location is great, very close to the town centre.
The view from the room was incredible! The hotel’s onsen was large, with its own excellent view- fantastic after a long day on the mountain. The breakfast set was also so wonderful, and the staff was accommodating.
Exceptional service and exceptional value! The positive reviews are spot on, Akari is the only place to stay in Nozawaonsen! Super friendly staff always willing to help! Truly enjoyed our stay!!!!!
We loved staying here. Traditional Japanese rooms were great. Onsen was great. The family that ran the hotel were awesome, very accommodating and cooked a great breakfast. Would recommend this place!
Modernized Japanese style hotel with western breakfast and great location to slopes and restaurants. Owner & staff members were extremely helpful on arrival and during our stay.
We absolutely loved staying at this hotel for four nights. The location is ideal for skiing, the rooms are spacious, and the staff are exceptionally kind and thoughtful.
