Niseko is the place you go when you want to travel/ski but want to feel like your still at home with all your comforts. The mountains pretty nice and not as busy as I expected in the late season. Hirafu is stupidly over priced for accomodation and food. it's the Whistler of Japan. Lift tickets are expensive compared to most other resorts in Japan. I only came because I had to do some training at Grand Hirafu. I ended up staying in Kutchan for 5 of my 10 days as its more affordable and has more of an authentic Japanese feel, although you then may have to wait for buses and you'll be sacrificing the night life if thats what you're into. Overall I would not return to Niseko unless it was a powder day and I was riding with some friends. Theres plenty of other options to choose from in my opinion.

One of the best spot for skiers/snowboarders I haven't ever been. Excellent for young travelers, family and couple. Niseko itself is expensive but just in the surrounding you can have amazing reasonable prized excellent local restaurants.

    Niseko is great for snowboarding.

Niseko is great for snowboarding. We were here for the powder and didn’t do much else. The mountain is not huge, but it is bigger than any other we have been to in Japan. The price is higher also. But you get some fun runs in and the tree areas are uncrowded. Would be great if there were more restaurants in the area that are halal or vegetarian friendly advertised on google maps. There are seasonal shuttle buses that operate in the area and the online maps and real time display of bus location is pretty good. Afuri has vegan ramen which was pretty good. Home Made Udon Goroku had vegetarian options also pretty delicious.

Hirafu (the main town around Niseko) is a vibrant ski town with lots of restaurants. I loved it. The skiing was great and so was the nightlife. You do not need a car if you stay in Hirafu. The only caution is that the town feels less Japanese and more “western,” with lots of western food and visitors from Australia, US and Europe. It felt less Japanese than I was expecting. For some visitors, that could be a plus. For others, it may be a negative.

Niseko is a very nice ski resort.

Niseko is a very nice ski resort. Everything is very well organised as in most Japanese ski resorts. The size of the ski resort and number of lifts allows to stay for a 2-3 days without feeling you rode this slope 10 times already. Connection with Niseko Village is not very convenient as you have to get quite high to move across. If you get there during peak season, book your restaurants way ahead otherwise, you will end up getting your food from the food trucks and Lawson. A mix of both will allow to manage your budget. Things are globally more expensive here than man other resorts.

    Very heavily commercialised.

Very heavily commercialised. Not a lot of Japanese culture to experience and very dominated by westerners. But having said that, communication in English was made very easy because of this! Incredible resorts, facilities and views. I can see why it's so commercialised and westernised though - because it's a geographically incredible spot. Probably one of the best snow resorts on the planet.

We had an excellent stay at Bistare Kana and are very glad we stayed there instead of one of the much more expensive hotels while we were in Niseko. The owner and his family are very friendly and accommodating, and provide an amazing complementary breakfast every morning at 8:00. The rooms are basic, but there are nice shared amenities available, including a coin operated washer and drier. The bathrooms and showers are nice and very clean, it never felt crowded since there are only 5 or 6 guest rooms in the building. Over all excellent week!

The private onsen was fantastic! For 2000 yen, we get a whole onsen all to ourselves (4 pax) and there is even an outdoor onsen pool. Shower facilities and amenities are great. Breakfast was good - they offer Japanese and western. The hotel is clean and really close to Hirafu grand ski area. There is a drug store which is less than 50m from the hotel and sells basically everything. 2 more convenience store down the road (5-8 mins walk). They also offer free pick up and drop off to Kutchan Station. Staff are super friendly and helpful

The property is so close to the ski lifts, about a 7 minute walk uphill to the base of Hirafu. You could take a shuttle but I liked the freedom of coming and going to the ski resort without waiting on a bus. The room was cozy and it came with a robe and slippers and I especially liked being able to use the Fridge at the end of the hall and the laundry facilities near reception. I was honestly shocked at how nice the accommodations were for the price, it was a really nice, quite and clean hotel that was very close to the ski hill.

Location at the bottom of the family lift is excellent. It was the only lift that stayed open during inclement weather. This lift also gives access to the other lifts on Hirafu. The hotel sent very detailed information for ski rentals and in-apartment appliance usage. The onsen was very nice, although the changing area is small. The ski concierge service is convenient and friendly. Also very good service by the staff of the building. We were given a reserved, covered parking spot.

we been there before , other hotels were booked out so we booked this. safe, outdoor onsen, the convenience of the rental of ski gear. but of course you pay higher rental price as compared to hirafu. their concierge , Juri is exceptional. she made our stay way more pleasant by helping us to book restaurants for a few nights in hirafu and arrange transport for us. all the concierge barely can understand English but Juri solve all our dining issue for the few nights .

pods were an interesting experience, but very thin walls and creaky. You hear a lot. overall, bathrooms were great, laundry facilities were good, the whole stay was enjoyable. Breakfast was different. like left overs combined with eggs and sausage. coffee was not the best. cereal was available. salad was new to me for breakfast. The area of Moiwa is very far from Hirafu or niseko but if you have a car it is a great place to stay. I would stay there again.

A great hotel. The staff were wonderful, the common areas and bedroom were spotlessly clean, the bedroom was extremely spacious and had everything one could need. The ski and boot room was very conveniently located. Great set breakfast with a good variety provided during the week I was there. One of the standouts was the indoor and outdoor hot baths, so relaxing after a day’s skiing. I will definitely be back. Location was very good for Hirafu.

Great little spot tucked away in the middle of town (There is a cut through path to the Gondola Street between Bill's and Taiga). The price is excellent and you can tell that this place has been around since the days of when Hirafu was a sleepy little ski town. Breakfast can be made upon request. So you will be experiencing a bit of Japanese culture just by staying here, unlike most of the larger and newer hotels.

Wide variety of food for breakfast and opened early for getting onto the mountain first thing. Shuttle bus excellent, essentially felt a like a ski in ski out resort. Room facilities exceeded expectation and very comfy beds. In hotel restaurants great food, particularly Afuri- great value and worth the queuing. Lovely communal lounge and fireplace for evenings.
