I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen.
I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen. The fare is ¥5900 one way and travel time is nearly an hour. I stayed at Toyoko Inn which is 150 meters from the Shin Fuji station. There are lots of car rentals in the area but I was not able to get one as they only accept advance booking from their website. It took me 2 hours getting to and from the foot of Mt. Fuji, by bus and a 15 minute walk in the village to reach my destinations. Roads are quite narrow but they are common in Japan. Like most countryside places in Japan, Fuji is relatively clean, rich in nature, and lots of places to explore. My advice if you want to visit Fuji: 1. Travel by Shinkansen going to and from Fuji. 2. Rent a car so you can visit most of the attractions in and around Mt. Fuji. 3. Spend at leat 3-4 days in the area. 4. Bring cash with you always as most establishments are cash based. 5. Download Papago app on your phone so you can translate Japanese images, signs, etc if you're having difficulty understanding the language. That's it and enjoy your trip to Mt. Fuji.

The host was amazing, he has two dogs. 50 years old traditional house is an experience itself. House is comfortably situated between two stations, one of which is Shinkansen stop. 7-eleven is nearby. Authentic experience of Japanese life different from hectic Tokyo, because not touristy.

I only gave ok rating cause I wasn’t able to see Mount Fuji in the spring. It’s a hit and miss this time of the season, but transportation to one of the lakes was easy. Next time I’ll pick the right season to visit.
I may be a bit biased because I was exhausted after hiking Mount Fuji, but I loved this hotel. It was very comfortable, the staff were helpful even with a language barrier (I unfortunately do not speak Japanese.) They allowed me to check in early once my room was ready. They have a spa/bath on premises that I didn't know about but was happy to hear about. The room was clean, and overall I would highly recommend this hotel. They have a shuttle to the station as well, and the breakfast was a buffet mix of western and Japanese foods.
We wanted to try a Ryokan (traditional Japanese hotel) and we had a good experience. Though it happened to be a rainy day so roof top foot spa with Mount Fuji view was closed. The Ryokan does give a feel of a family run hotel (less commercial feel). Hotel is in 3 adjoining building and other than main building there were no elevators. Onsen was good. We asked for vegetarian breakfast and were provided with one which was good. We went for a walk in the neighbourhood in night and felt very safe.
This was a good stay in a nice Ryokan! The staff was lovely, they are so sweet. Price-quality very good. If there are no clouds you can see mt Fuji from your window. There will be tea waiting for you in your room. Very near to the small train station. If you stay at this Ryokan, visit the Hiromi park. Also, eat lunch at the Kitchen Taka Fuji!
The hotel is very close to Fuji Station. We had a good view of Mt. Fuji from the room windows. The bus stop is just in front of the hotel entrance. The staffs at hotel were very friendly and helped their best. They provided a very good breakfast. The food was delicious. I strongly recommend to stay in this hotel.
One thing that stood out are the staff serving at the restaurant. They were so courteous and went out of their way to make us comfortable. I wish I could call out their names. The management should be proud of them. I will definitely be recommending the hotel to my colleagues back in Melbourne- Australia.
cleanliness; free parking; very quiet atmosphere; views of Fuji-San. friendly service; modern, updated hotel. Seemed very clean. Western breakfast availability; I would’ve liked pancakes; love the dolce gusto coffee machine like I have at home. next time I will bring my pods.
-Staff can communicate in basic English
-Free breakfast
-Hotel is located next to Shin-Fuji Station (about 2 minutes walk)
-Very reasonable price
-If you get a room on high floor and the sky is clear, you will highly have a chance to see Mount Fuji from your room
The room is equipped with everything you may need, including a view on Mt.Fuji if you're lucky. The onsen was nice, and besides body soap and shampoo it also had all types of cleansing foam and lotions around the sink.
Breakfast was buffet but Japanese style.
They have a foot bath with a very close Fujisan view on the rooftop (but due to my bad luck I stayed there on very cloudy days).
I have daily access to unlimited free drinks (alcohol, soft drinks, & water), candies, and 1 ice cream/day on the first floor.
Conveniently located, basically right next door to the Fuji Train Station. Friendly and helpful staff. Provided an assortment of amenities and pajamas for free. As well as during 6-9pm(?) there's a free open bar, which we thoroughly enjoyed!
Bicycle rental was convenient
Overal a good place to stay for a day trip to see mount fuji it may be uncomfortable for travellers since the place isn't known for tourist but there is an guide for local to visit it was very helpful.
Incredible view of Fuji from our room and delicious breakfast. The room, though small and with unusual decor choices, was comfortable with a separate toilet. Plus the bath was unusually spacious.
It was very clean and near a bus stop, station, and the shopping street. The private room didn't feel cramped and had an amazing view. It was easy to find and had a nice shared space.
Close to Fuji Station , Large rooms for Japanese std. Well appointed. Considerate staff with an understanding of visitor’s needs. Decent view of Mt Fuji, weather permitting.
OK for stop over to visit the region, as the hotel is at walking distance from train station. Room comfortable (actually with two beds even for solo travelers).
Great location with views of Mt Fuji and plenty of restaurants options nearby. Front desk staff were amazing with one gentleman speaking perfect English.
