I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen.
I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen. The fare is ¥5900 one way and travel time is nearly an hour. I stayed at Toyoko Inn which is 150 meters from the Shin Fuji station. There are lots of car rentals in the area but I was not able to get one as they only accept advance booking from their website. It took me 2 hours getting to and from the foot of Mt. Fuji, by bus and a 15 minute walk in the village to reach my destinations. Roads are quite narrow but they are common in Japan. Like most countryside places in Japan, Fuji is relatively clean, rich in nature, and lots of places to explore. My advice if you want to visit Fuji: 1. Travel by Shinkansen going to and from Fuji. 2. Rent a car so you can visit most of the attractions in and around Mt. Fuji. 3. Spend at leat 3-4 days in the area. 4. Bring cash with you always as most establishments are cash based. 5. Download Papago app on your phone so you can translate Japanese images, signs, etc if you're having difficulty understanding the language. That's it and enjoy your trip to Mt. Fuji.

The host was amazing, he has two dogs. 50 years old traditional house is an experience itself. House is comfortably situated between two stations, one of which is Shinkansen stop. 7-eleven is nearby. Authentic experience of Japanese life different from hectic Tokyo, because not touristy.

I only gave ok rating cause I wasn’t able to see Mount Fuji in the spring. It’s a hit and miss this time of the season, but transportation to one of the lakes was easy. Next time I’ll pick the right season to visit.

Unfortunately it was no climbing season at all when I went there, but it was a nice time in Fuji though! The city has potential as a recreational place. The street car system is good. There are a lot of bars and restaurants and also public baths.
The buffet breakfast which consisted of both Japanese and western cuisines were delicious. The location was perfect being next to the Shin-Fuji Station which brings you to Tokyo via the Shinkansen in an hour. The hotel also provides a van shuttle to Fuji Station which is about 10 minutes away (Do check the schedules which is listed on a board in front of the hotel). From Fuji Station, one can take the local train to Fujinomiya Station which is 20 minutes away. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the location, comfort and convenience!
We stayed at this hotel to see Mount Fuji. The view was pretty good from the upper deck of the parking garage. (In close by Chuo Park there are lots of opportunities to see the mountain without powerlines :) It helps to get up early because the haze and the clouds really come in later in the day. One early evening we couldn't tell there was a mountain.)
The room price included a breakfast buffet - a mixture of western and Japanese. We took advantage of the restaurant - the dinner was beautifully prepared and tasted delicious.
It’s a beautiful house in the traditional Japanese style. The location is 2mins walking distance from the Shin Fuji station, very convenient. The environment is very clean and cozy. The best part is the large bath, especially after hiking in the Mt. Fuji. The host is very nice and glad to help with visitors. I will give the hostel 10+++ stars if I could!!! I will definitely choose this hostel again when visit Shin Fuji and I highly recommend it!!
An amazing host, who really takes care of everything one needs.
The hotel itself is one of the older ones, which one clearly sees on the facilities. That beeing said:the whole picture just fits and I'd stay there again any time. (also very affordable prices!)
Plenty of shops to get some food around. Bus station just some minutes away. Mt Fuju(as of end of September) is clearly visible early in the morning).
The hotel is positioned perfectly allowing an unblocked view of Mt Fuji; we requested for Mt Fuji view as well as rooms beside one another and they provided it to us without additional charge. Truly accommodating in both our request as well as a great strategic location stay.
The accommodations were very nice, clean and comfortable, with a great view from the room! The host was very friendly and spoke great English. They have a beautiful yard, and a music room. I would highly recommend it to anyone, looking for a cute simple place to stay in Fuji.
The hotel worked with us to confirm details about our Mt. Fuji hike and let us store an extra bag while we spent the night on Mt. Fuji. Thank you so much for spending the time to make our stay comfortable and answer all our questions. Would recommend!
Perfect location for visiting Fujisan (mt fuji) tourist locations if you arrive via shinkanzen and rent a car during your stay.
Friendly staff, free vending machine vouchers, secure female public bath. Bed and room were comfy enough for the price.
Central location to discover Shizuoka - combined with Mt. Fuji-Shizuoka Area Tourist Pass Mini. Super near train station. Has a breakfast area to chill from 6pm-9pm with free drinks n some liquor. Very friendly staff!!
As the name describes it is a Backpacker place with a friendly relaxed vibe. The welcome and departure was very nice. He dropped us to the Fuji station which we appreciate.
The cooking facilities are good.
Close to Fuji station and lots of shops nearby, the cute woman at the front desk who explained everything well and have her best all the time! Showers were good. Kitchen, if you want to cook.
Location literally couldn't be better. Staff very friendly even with my limited Japanese. You do have to schedule your bath ahead of time but they give you more than enough time to soak.
It's very near i.e. 2-3 min walk from the Shin Fuji Station. And everything was very clean. We can leave our luggages there if we arrive early or depart late.
