Beautiful location and views very remote so must be willing to drive to other small villages for more dinner options/ activities. Perfect for walking/ hiking, cycling and outdoor swimming/paddle boarding. Ski season would be perfect with lots of slope options all not far from one another. We went with two children age 5 and 2 and found plenty to do and took a sensible pram and back carrier to cover all activities.

Quiet German town surrounded by beautiful nature on the border. Diverse entertainment options in and around the town - not just for nature lovers. Possibility to use attractions on the Czech side, which can be reached by cross-border bus or train. If you have accommodation here, you will get a NationaPark-Card, thanks to which local transport is free.
Recommended: Local Bahnhof museum, MiniGolf, Grenzbahnhof, nearby highest peak Gross Arber with gondola lift and surrounding lakes (small and large) where you can eat well. There is a forest games park near Spiegelau - forest fun for the whole family. We were shopping in the nearby town of Zwiesel, where there are also many good restaurants.

Lovely, cosy apartment in a quiet location with excellent access to hiking routes. The balcony overlooking the garden is so peaceful and the kitchen was well equipped (even with cooking oil!). We appreciated the free public transport 'Guti' tickets. Bayerisch Eisenstein is a pretty but small village. It might be useful for travellers without a car to know that there is no shop for groceries in the village, we had to get the train to Železná Ruda in order to buy food etc.
We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back sometime!
Nice equiped and very clean hotel and room. We were really suprised when we found there fully equiped shared kitchen with free tee. The hotel is very well managed, the owner is friendly person who takes care about the guests. The hotel offers comfort, very clean rooms and good equipment for kids. We asked for earlier check-in and we got it, the responses from the hotel were quick. We can recommend this hotel and we are sure we will get there again.
This pension has the most friendly and helpful staff of all the hotels I've been in past few years. It is in excellent location for winter sports, but great start for summer hikes as well. There were no problems with anything whatsoever. Very good breakfast and good food in restaurant overall. Very pet friendly. Much recommended.
I would say it represented the best of Bavaria in ambience and decor. To some maybe a little cute but that's what it's all about. Beautiful room, spacious, comfortable, with balcony. The staff were kind friendly and helpful. The restaurant was lovely, food excellent. Access to really nice walks in the Bavarian Forest.
Excellent accommodation. Check-in was without any problems. The room we had was cozy, clean, very well equipped. The toilets and bathroom were also clean. The location of the accommodation is very good, close to restaurants and hiking and cycling trails. I definitely recommend this accommodation.
Apartment was clean and comfortable with all facilities required for a short stay. Good communications with the owner. Location is great. 10 minutes walk to the train station and 2 minutes to the rail Museum. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Highly recommend Haus Kraus.
Nice hotel in a convenient location. Close to the train station with a good connection to the Bavarian Forest and to the Sumava mountains on the Czech side. Extremely nice and helpful owners and staff. Thank you for a pleasant stay. :-)
Good value mountain hotel in beautiful location. The helpful receptionist changed my room to give me a better view. Breakfast is excellent, though the only evening meals offered are pizzas and baguettes.
Breakfast was great for such a small hotel, dinner exceeded expectations. Service was impeccable, the level of professionalism felt like in an expensive hotel in Dubai or so. Pretty great.
