Great place to visit beautiful view.
Great place to visit beautiful view. Colour photos turn out fantastic due to lighting, lake environment colours. Sky at night best I've seen. Rented large house for our family gathering. In advance Contacted Four Square Tekapo they offered to cook chickens, make vegetarian dish, supplied all our food. Also made salads supplied breads, deserts, drinks. We were so pleased with the service this store provided. Perfect. Would of loved to stay longer.

Lake Tekapo is beautiful and very relaxing but only needs a couple of days to be seen thoroughly.
There's a pleasant, flat walk along and above the shoreline that's not too taxing for younger children and there are trails and hot spring pools for older kids/adults. There's also mini golf or ice skating, depending on what time of the year you go.
Shops are very limited and those available are overpriced - if you are staying self-catered, try to bring food with you or eat out. Thoroughly recommend 25 degree - they don't take bookings so you'll need to get there as they open (for dinner) or be prepared to wait/come back later.
Another downside is the inconsiderate behaviour of some of the other tourists - if you're trying to get any decent photos of the Good Shepherd church or stars, you'll need to go very early/very late or find a secluded place for night photos. Some people seemed unaware that this is a spot for limited light so had car headlights on full whilst sitting outside the church - which made our photographers trip a bit wasted.

Only stayed in Lake Tekapo because I wanted to walk on the Hooker Valley Track. It was reasonable accommodation a good hour away from Mount Cook. Loved our accommodation in Wee Mack and enjoyed going to the Hot Springs after our long fantastic walk to the Mueller Lake glaciers. Wanted to see the stars but it was either cloudy or the moon was too bright to get that dark sky/ full of stars effect. The Summit sky activity has to be booked at least one month in advance.

Lake Tekapo is a beautiful location, with lots to see and do.
A car is needed to see the full extent of the Lake and surrounding districts.
There is a lot of choice from self-cook to takeaways and eat-in restaurants. Something for everyone.
The view of Lake Tekapo is simply stunning! We loved that the sliding doors to the balcony could be opened so wide. Parking is available on the street adjacent to the studio. The studio quite spacious and very clean. The bathroom had a heater, which was so nice to experience after a day of hiking! It's a <10 minute walk to the town center. Check in was also very easy. The woman who checked us in was warm and friendly. It was also convenient that the kitchenette had a large counter space as well as plates, glasses, and utensils for use.
We may have a different experience as we were the only people that booked in to the backpackers over our stay, the staff were friendly and stayed open for us, and had our rooms heater going before we arrived. The room was well lit and warm with plenty of extra blankets provided. Great spot near all of the restaurants and the only grocer in town.
This backpackers was one of the most spotlessly clean places I've ever stayed. Facilities were great and Zoe, on reception, was so friendly and gave us the best recommendations for places to eat and things to do in Tekapo. The view from the main window is gorgeous and it is great value for money.
good location with great view of Lake Tekapo, easy parking car , spacious space of staying with family, very nice kitchen with all the practical ware, stove warm up the place very well, bookshelf with different kinds of books and toys provide great time get together
This hotel is brand new, and in an excellent location overlooking Lake Tekapo - the views from our bedroom were breathtaking. The small town centre is within easy walking distance. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room comfortable.
The house was huge! Plenty of space to chill and relax. The property was facing Lake Tekapo so the views in the morning were amazing. Got the keys from the lock box so it was really hassle free. I could arrive late and still get in easily.
Loved having a whole home to ourselves with two bedrooms after being in holiday park for the remainder of our holiday. Great facilities, well presented, comfortable and warm. Located close to the centre of Tekapo.
The location, view of the lake tekapo, the smartness of the home (google stuff integrated), the layout of the house. Vic was extremely detailed and helpful with what to do in Lake Tekapo as well.
The room, the location and the views were great. Large kitchen and living room were on the second floor, which offered beautiful views of the lake Tekapo. The mattress was soft and comfortable.
The home was very clean, conveniently located near gorgeous Lake Tekapo. We appreciated having a spacious home, kitchen, laundry facilities, and being in convenient walking distance to town.
View was really cute. We stayed just one night, so we didn’t need much and we were prepared that we will need to pay a lot since it’s a great location at Lake Tekapo.
Close to Lake Tekapo, a short drive to one of the most photograph church in the world by the lake. A good stop Over to or from Mount Cook adventure road trip
toilets and shower were clean and decent, not like the other shared facilities from other holiday parks. Cabins really keep you warm on freezing cold night!
