Great night in this fun hotel - nice room and bathroom, restaurant and bar were great with great food and wine and open fires. The outside fire area is also great. Just did the one night but would definitely come back for a repeat visit. Staff were also very friendly

Our stay at Stoneridge was little short of ideal! The grounds were simply stunning - you take a steep drive up to the resort, passing by vineyards and rose bushes. The buildings have a historic stone and wrought-iron look and truly feel like they have been there for centuries. Walk around the grounds and you might also see the very cute, peaceful chapel. The rooms were, again, stunning, with beautiful views over Lake Hayes. They were spacious and thoughtfully furnished, including the bathrooms which had his and hers sinks. On checking in, we were greeted by their very friendly staff who offered us two glasses of rose and a lovely cheese board. In short, we loved it here - it felt like pure luxury!

The Kinross Hotel was located perfectly within the wine region of Gibbston valley - giving you equal access to the many wineries surrounding it (as well, of course, to the one on their property. The grounds were beautiful: plenty of spaces to relax outside - on picnic tables, bean bags, etc. - room to explore the grounds that were replete with bunnies, ducks, and other birds. Their dinner (which you need to book ahead of time - by 4:30!) was delicious with a bottle of their wine (which you need to purchase from your room!). The room was very spacious, if a bit sparsely furnished (especially the bathroom). Overall, definitely recommend though!

Wonderful home/2 nites, and hosts were so kind and generous!
Wonderful home/2 nites, and hosts were so kind and generous! I stayed in the self-contained pool house, next to jacuzzi as well, fabulously decorated, size was perfect, bed very comfortable, kitchen opened onto the pool decking, stocked and then some! It was a great location, easy walking distance to the Cadrona Hotel, another place to not miss, for the excellent dining, outside and inside spaces, history, and uniqueness of it. 😍

Accommodation was great.
Accommodation was great. The food at the hotel was good and good size. The staff were friendly and efficient.
However the staff at the Mt Cadrona ski resort were very much lacking as far as customer service. We did the carts on the mountain and it was if they couldn't be bothered.

Good location for the mountain. The pub is great.
Good location for the mountain. The pub is great. Stock up at the supermarket as there is very little that can be purchased in the valley itself. You can get milk and coffee and a pie at the generously named General store (and pizza on a Friday evening) but not much else.

Most of all I enjoyed the character of the gold-rush era buildings which, nevertheless, had all the facilities and comforts that modern society demands. A perfect blend of past and present giving an accomodation experience that cannot be matched in “modern” hotels.

Our stay at the Cardrona was the end of a 9 day holiday around the lower South Island and was without doubt the best accommodation we stayed at. The staff were fantastic, the room was lovely and the beds were incredibly comfortable- without doubt great value for money.
