A sleepy town with one good Pub and a great cafe. The Porepunkah Pantry was closed which was inconvenient as the closest supplies were in Bright. Accommodation staff could have mentioned this at check in.
Riverside loop walk (3.5km) is pretty and possible for runners as well as walkers.
The Rail Trail for me was less interesting as a runner...there was always the reality check that it's right next to the main road.

Porepunkah is a small l town with limited facilities, but in close proximity to Bright (10mins drive), which has everything you could need.
The Punka Pub is a first class venue, with great staff, excellent menu & atmosphere. Great gluten free options & space for you to bring your dog.
Lots of options for cyclists, hiking and adventure activities in the area.

A lovely little town close to Bright.
A lovely little town close to Bright. We went to the pub, a cafe and ski hire and all were great. We went for a great bike ride and a lovely riverside walk. Views of Mt Buffalo are stunning. Close to the larger town of Bright.
Beautiful views, clean comfy bed & food items & wine very thoughtful. Needed better pillows. Soundproofing a must from other guests & stairs up. Cleaning of webs on the balcony as it was off putting. If you're looking for tranquil setting unfortunately the main road traffic is spoiling the setting. Overall 3 stars of comfort with a 5 star view.

Very small town only minutes from Bright. right on the Ovens River with good fishing and walks. the Alpine Rail Trail goes right through the town. A couple of great wineries are nearby as well as a Deer farm and Berry Picking. Only a short drive to Lake Buffalo with boating and fishing. The scenery and countryside is beautiful in all seasons but especially Spring and Autumn in this area

Porepunkah is only six kilometres from Bright.
Porepunkah is only six kilometres from Bright. Everyone knows Bright is amazing. But Porepunkah is that much closer to Mount Buffalo National Park and that place is amazing too. That's why I stay in Porepunkah.
We thought the attention to detail was excepional - something I have not experienced in 7 Star rated hotels overseas let alone a winery retreat. Smoked salmon, gourmet cheese, gorgeous crispy white wine from the source, gourmet freshly baked bread, beautiful locally sourced condiments - the list goes on. We could not have hoped for a more peaceful and relaxing accomodation location - especially the outdoor HUGE bath that we both fitted in comfortably with plenty of hot water and wine to savour the atmospehere:-}
Had a lovely stay here recently while on a cycling trip. Narelle and her family were so friendly and kind. They invited me to the pub with them, giving me a lift there and back after a long day of cycling! Was much appreciated rather than cycling another 10 minutes into town 😂 facilities were very clean and the bed was super comfy.. Would highly recommend for anyone staying in Porepunkah for the night! Thanks again Narelle.
We loved spending our family summer holiday here! Fabulous location every day we could plan something different with bike and walking tracks on the doorstep, stroll down to the cafe or pub in Porepunkah, relax in the beautiful backyard, swim in the ovens river. House had everything we needed, and Judith & Jeff were very helpful hosts. Perfect! Would definitely stay again!
Lovely clean, quiet apartment with mountain views
Well equipped full size kitchen. Functional bathroom with good hot water
Right on the rail trail and close to Porepunkah shops/cafes
Great facilities such as pool, bbq and bike hire
Julie and Gary are very friendly and knowledgeable hosts
Location is good, not far from Mt Buffalo. Not many shops in the Porepunkah town centre. For dinner, we need to go to Bright, which is about 7km away. Room is clean, and cosy. Toiletries are good, they even provide body lotion and shower hat.
The owner was extremely helpful and the location fantastic. Beautiful property and only 4km out of Bright. Our room was lovely, the bed very comfortable and at a price we could afford. Would definitely stay again if ever in the area.
The unit was maintain in tip-top condition, look like having recently renovated, near to Porepunkah and Bright. Family of 4 members with two bed rooms. Value for money especially during this school holiday season.
Porepunka is beautiful, very close to Mt Buffalo and Bright. Right on the river and close to the pub and cafe. The pool was lovely when we weren't swimming in the river.
Very kind and friendly host.
The accommodation was very clean and pleasant. I highly recommend this place for a stay. Very good view outside the hotel.
