Brides is a lovely small town ideal for those who want to enjoy the ski area of the Three Valleys but who want a more relaxed, low key environment for the evenings. There is a lovely park alongside the river to enjoy an evening stroll. There are a few bars and restaurants but you don't come here for night time entertainment.

It is really unfortunate that the mayor's idea to boost the town as a location for skiers is to put on over-loud and poor quality bands in the town square. This absolutely ruins the experience. Suppose you are tired after a day of skiing and want to settle down to dinner in comfort? How will you feel if all you can hear is amplified drum beats?

Brides-les-Bains is a cheaper and convenient way of skiing the Meribel / 3 Valleys ski area.
The area is quiet but with plenty going on, and lots of lovely restaurants. The gondola is centrally located, there is an Intersport hire shop attached to the gondola but I found this pricier than the central location (2 minutes down the road). You can however, hire lockers from the Intersport located at the gondola station which was really useful, but worth noting that the locker has a space available for individual sets of skis so will need one per person.
Brides-les-Bains is full of lovely restaurants, however it is vital to book. On our first evening we were wondering around for a while trying to locate somewhere to eat. It appears that they have several 'sittings' for dinner and will often put up a sign to say they are full. We then made bookings for the rest of our stay to avoid this issue.

We love Brides Les Bains as it is not wholly a ski resort - it has a character that is more about the valley location and community than the skiing with interesting buildings, a park, a river and valley scenery. It's a fairly quiet village, although it's livelier in school holidays, when there is usually some kind of entertainment on at the end of the day.
Eating out is varied, although there aren't a huge number of venues.
The village offers free parking in a variety of locations.
It is very easily accessed, and we have never been affected by the weather conditions for getting there or getting away.
Accommodation, both catered and un-catered, is plentiful and reasonably priced.
Plenty to do for non-skiers with well sign posted walks and interesting towns nearby.

French town situated in the valley just below Meribel.
French town situated in the valley just below Meribel. It's connected to the three valleys ski area by a 25 minute gondola ride. As it opens 1/2 hour earlier you actually don't miss any skiing.
Everything seems much cheaper than up in the mountains, and for a cheaper option with access to fantastic skiing it's worth considering as an alternative.

Brides great satellite of the 3 valleys.
Brides great satellite of the 3 valleys. Nice bars and restaurants. No too many drunken idiots. Plenty of character. Lift takes about 25 mins to get to Meribel centre. Hence the good value for money. (DO NOT MISS the last lift alternatives aren't good. )Easy to drive to , Bus from the station in Moutiers - 10 mins or so.

Natacha, the host, was very helpful and accommodating despite the fact that we arrived towards the evening. The place is just 10 mins walk to the ski lift which takes you directly to Meribel in just ~20mins by gondola. You can find a covered car park next to the hotel which is free of charge (very unusual for France) and just 5 mins walk from the place. The hotel is on the main street in Brides-les-Bains where you can find restaurants and cafes.
The room was located in a building across a small street behind the main hotel building, accessed via a coded keypad from the street. Very close to the bottom of the main lift station, the municipal car park (which was free parking) and the supermarket. The breakfast in the hotel was very reasonable compared to other places - only €8 including tax.
Great little village with the gondola to Meribel just around the corner. Hotel has had some areas updates could probably do with some more. But it was very clean. Breakfast was basic but again plenty to go around.
Staff very very good and if you drive there is an underground carpark 10 minutes away with a direct gondala direct to Courcheval.
This friendly hotel was an excellent introduction to Brides-Les-Bains. When we arrived, the welcome was friendly and the staff helped us with the young children who arrived. Parking was easy and convenient. Breakfast plentiful and varied and, later, the house red was good.
1) perfect location for skiers - 100m from the gondola.
2) very good value for dinner, bed and breakfast.
3) restaurant and bar on the premises.
4) well run family hotel (the manager is the 4th generation to run the hotel).
5) bath with plenty of hot water.
Everything was great, especially the staff of the hotel! We were welcomed very warmly and got everything we needed during our stay. The room was spacious with a nice view, and it was only 5 min away from the ski lift! Would definitely come back again!
The property is conveniently located at the base of the Olympe gondolas which take you to Méribel Centre in less than 30min. The hotel has complimentary parking for its guests in the back as well as ski lockers. make sure to request one upon arrival.
we used this hotel as a stopover on the way to Meribel - we arrived late and left early it was perfectly fine but very basic - the staff were friendly it was easy to find and the parking was free.
The hotel is clean, well-located as it’s only 300m away from the bubble lift to Meribel centre, the breakfast is good and it offers a decent room size.
