Good to visit during ski season. Little to do outside of it.
Good to visit during ski season. Little to do outside of it. Not to mention the access from Bucharest and even Brasov. Awful traffic all thorough the year. Many hours spent is a standstill queue. Other much better alternatives available.

Azuga is a very quiet resort that is currently in a touristic restoration/rebirth period.
At the moment Azuga is not that known and it a lot less busy than Busteni/Predeal/Sinaia.
But this tourist city offers a lot of sports-related attractions, cycling (both XC and downhill), hiking, walking outside, ATVs, Motorcycles, skiing in the winter, and others.
The trails are not as known as the others but they offer stunning views of the neighboring mountains with easy hikes.

It looked like an abandoned city, unfortunately.
It looked like an abandoned city, unfortunately.
You can go to Sorica and take the Gondola that takes you to the mountain plateau. Very beautiful views from there and you can see Bucegi mountains or hike at Baiului Mountains.
We loved the food at Casa Azugeana.

If you like the place for yourselves, than Azuga is the place to be. It was almost nobody on the streets and the place looked deserted. I could find parking spaces wherever I wanted.
It is a good destination if you want peace and quiet. In the summer you will mostly only find the locals there.

Azuga is the maybe the most rewarding winter resort for alpine skiing in Romania at the moment - mostly because of the two ski slopes (both red) that are groomed to perfection and easy to access. There is rarely standing in line at the gondola lift, as opposed to other ski resorts in Prahova Valley. In the summer there are several other outdoor sports to be enjoyed - downhill and mountain biking, hiking etc. Other opportunities for relaxing and spending time are, unfortunately, limited. The small resort is suffering from lack of investment. All the small local industry is gone, jobs for the locals are scarce even in the hospitality industry and young people are forced to move to the bigger cities in Prahova or Brasov.

was very happy to discover this hotel quite far from the DN1 rush, in a very quiet area, right next to a the cabletrain (telegondola). Our room had an amazing mountain view (it seems that all rooms have nice views as they are not obstructed by other buildings). Also, the room was very large and spacious.
We have had everything that we needed for our one night stay. Everything was there: a functioning heating unit, well functioning gas stove and oven, good beds/couches (don't expect state of the art mattresses for this kind of money please). They had oven trays, an old school coffee pot (BEST COFFEE!!) , cooking pots, shot glasses, spices etc. If I were to visit Azuga with a small group of friends I would definitely choose this place again. The location is close to local supermarkets which do not have tequila, but do sell vodka and rum.
The villa is rented in full.
Location is by the river, in an uncongested area in Azuga. 10 minutes gentle. walk to the gondola. Private parking is available in the courtyard.
The construction is new and all furniture, appliances are new as well. We were one of the first to check in here. Everything is functional. Big living room. Very well equipped kitchen. Each room has a dedicated bathroom, either with a tub or shower. A cabinet and two small bedsides are provided as well.
Communication with the host was fast, open and reliable.
I recently stayed at a place that was an absolute delight. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a nice bathroom. The location was perfect, as it was close to the main road. The owner was very nice and hospitable, and even treated me to whisky and barbeque on the first day of my stay. I asked for a fridge in the room, and the owner was kind enough to provide one. Overall, it was a very nice place and offered great value for money. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Lovely place with lovely people. Breakfast is awesome. So many yummy choices. You can even get homemade cake for breakfast. :) It is very close to the tele gondola that takes you up to Sorica, one of our favourite places in the country. Also, it is very close to Rhein Restaurant, one of the best restaurants on Valea Prahovei. Noni has their own restaurant and the food was nice. We totally appreciated that they cook everything fresh, they don't use frozen chips for example, but proper potatoes.
The hotel is very clean and the rooms are impeccable. The bathroom was equipped with tub, hair dryer, the room with a king size bed, clean sheets, clean carpets, nice view balcony, flat screen TV. The hotel welcomed us with chocolates and the receptionist offered our daughter a super cute unicorn-shaped balloon when we checked out.
They have both indoor and outdoor playgrounds, the swimming pool is quite big, the breakfast is diverse, delicious. Loved everything, will surely come back!
Loved:
- huge size of the room, amazing views of the mountain
- upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to get an extra bed already put in in our room, without asking, which was amazing for us (2 adults and 1 child)
- lovely indoor and outdoor play areas
- very nice Spa, kid friendly, very clean and nice looking
- good breakfast selection with very good coffee.
The breakfast consists of many delicious options. The rooms are wonderful and the view from the balconies is breathtaking. The staff is extremely kind and polite. The hotel provided for a car to pick me up from the train station and I appreciated that a lot as I was travelling with my toddler and the grandma.
-very clean
-nice rooms better looking then what you see in the photos
-very warm inside with hot water and good preasure at the shower
-good food with the best apple pie
-good sparkling wine
-5 min by car from the ski slopes and 15-20min by foot
-a lot of parking places and not far from the train station
place as described, extra clean, neighbors quiet, great communication with the host, a decent restaurant across the street, couple of shops 5min walk distance... nothing missing essentially; for an apartment rented from a private host, this is a wonderful experience that deserves repetition.
We loved it here. The studio has everything you need and is very clean. It is located in a quiet corner of Azuga, though the supermarket is close and the cablecar to go up the mountain is easy to reach by foot. Would definitely recommend this place for a couple of nights!
Lovely view of the mountains, directly oriented towards Bucegi.
Clean room, comfy bed, cafeteria at the bottom floor, plenty of parking space close to the location, very nice balcony, good location in Azuga.
The bathroom has natural ventilation.
It was superclean, I really appreciate that.
Lovely location, big property, winery, restaurant.
Peace and quiet.
Toiletries, clean sheets and towels.
The food is decent, quick service
The host was very kind and helpful. The studio is perfectly equipped and the location is well placed. Close to the Telegondola Sorica and groceries.
The bad was more than confortable.
Clean, new refurbished apartment, well positioned near the park, stores and Azuga ski domain.
Kitchen well equipped, own heating system. Overall great value for the money.
