Big mountain by Japanese standards with lots of varied terrain. Suitable for intermediates and advanced skiers, a little less so for real beginners. Not overly westernised so still has a Japanese feel. Generally very good snow.

My family and I likes few things in this hotel , free washing machine facilities ( only dryer need to pay ) , massage chair and ice cream after onsen . When kids asleep I can go down have free ramen with my husband . The onsen was very nice and private onsen suitable for our whole family. Free coffee , oolong tea ,juice , water at lobby helps a lot when too
Cold to go outside . Free Yakut in the morning was great for kids too . The hotel breakfast was a little bit expensive. We only had once .

Winter wonderland with amazing views.
Winter wonderland with amazing views. Powder snow everywhere, perfect for snowball fights and snowmen making. Local business owners are lovely to talk to. It’s a quiet place and life takes a more relaxed pace here. Stop by at Fukuzushi/ Fuku Sushi for the biggest nigiri you have ever laid your eyes on. The sushi chefs of Fuku sushi have been making sushi in Furano for at least 40 years. Say hi to chef Ohno, he’s a lovely guy and very friendly. Our hotel La Vista Furano was a destination in and of itself. Skiing at New Furano Prince Hotel’s Furano zone for the first time treated us to some of the best winter views and the best powder snow. The only downside would be that there aren’t a lot of readily available transportation options during the winter, so always book taxis or buses in advance.

DAY TRIP IS ENOUGH: If you are not skiing, I would recommend that you take a day trip bus tour from Sapporo Station. All the sites can be seen in one bus tour; best to stay the night and other nights in Sapporo.
JR FURANO STATION (TRAIN): AVOID IF YOU HAVE LUGGAGES: Be warned: no elevator or escalator in this Station, and to reach any platform from the entrance, you need to climb up one steep flight of stairs, walk through a bridgeway, and walk down another steep flight of stairs. Very very difficult if you have large luggages, and not fit!
I would recommend avoiding this station if you have luggages. Note that there is a bus which takes you from Furano to Ashikara station or even Sapporo station, and the travel time between the train trip (with at least 2 train transfers) and the more comfortable bus trip is almost the same. If dragging luggages from train to train AND up/down stairs is an issue: take the bus!

Expected deep powder but spring came early.
Expected deep powder but spring came early. We got there at the end of Feb, just missing a good snow dump, then it got warm and very springlike. Bit disappointing but we'd already had a good couple of weeks down in Honshu. Had expected powder days through March... Maybe just not this year? Can see how the field would be fun with better show.
Will try again, earlier, another year!
So we put away our boards, did the night sky watch tour (saw a deer and a fox too!) , and the yuma dog sledding experience, and walked into town. Small, farming town - not just a resort.

Cosy house with plenty of space for all our gear.
Cosy house with plenty of space for all our gear. Heaters in every room made the stay during winter great. We had a car so travelling back to Furano for dinner etc wasn't an issue. Bedding was comfortable and kitchen had all required for cooking up a meal at home. Great views of mountain ranges.
The property was clean and tide. Breakfast was included in the price and there was a full range, western & Japanese style breakfast. The hotel was newly built (looked new at least). The Onsen was a very rewarding place after the ski slopes. There was also a massage blast chair, where a jet of water would come down from the ceiling nozzle (like a garden hose but hard flowing) and was enjoyed immensely. Never seen one in an Onsen before. Also the hotel is close to restaurants and 250m from the train station.
Modern, designer apartments right in front of the Kitanomine Gondola Station. From our 5th floor 2-bed deluxe room, we had beautiful views overlooking Furano City and the Daisetsuzan mountain range. The apartment has all the necessary appliances to self cater so it's a great base for those that wish to be a little more independent. The general manager took care of all of our questions with patience and kindness. On-site car park was useful too. A wonderful stay.
The property, although not too big, is exceptionally clean and has beautiful decor. The lounge area with books, nice music, free coffee and tea and some wine to taste is cozy and inviting. The room size is good for Japan, beds are comfortable, and has nice thoughtful touch of amenities. Although I didn’t have a meal there, the restaurant looked very nice too. The staff was polite and friendly. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to a friend.
really enjoyed this homey feeling bed & breakfast run by Michael and Mamiko!! So warm they really made our first stay at Furano absolutely great!! each morning their breakfast was slightly different freshly cooked with hearts! they’ve discounted Day ski pass plus they know the locals and what to advise us from restaurants to onsen. They even put on a fresh real fire at 5 p.m. at the lounge everyday and you can mingle with other guests!!
It’s not just a good hotel, it’s a perfect inn. The room was clean, smell good, and warmth since we went during peak Winter. It has enough parking space and the location was easy to be found. Staffs were very polite, kind, helpful, and let us to have early check-in (1.30 hour earlier). The Breakfast was so delicious and on time. We had our “No Meat” special request breakfast menu. Free coffee and tea, at certain time.
The hotel staff enriched our stay in Furano. We spoke minimal Japanese, and the hotel staff went above our expectations by assisting us to make reservations for taxis and restaurants. They were very pleasant, friendly, and flexible. The hotel was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hot tub in the women's spa is nice. The bus stop and train station are very close to the hotel, as are several restaurants.
Location was great, peaceful enviroment. Didn't had the chance to try out the breakfast however, as we wanted something other than the usual hotel breakfast. But looking back, it was a regret that we skipped breakfast at the hotel since it looked pretty good :c
Hotel staff is very friendly too and understands little english which is a plus ! When we came to check in, 3 lovely cats came to greet us !
The breakfast nicely combines Japanese and continental styles. In addition to the westernized main dishes, cereals or bun s/toasts, numerous Japanese options, such as natto, miso soup, or yellow pickled radish are also available. The daily fresh fruits are also provided. How pretty suitable the ski breakfast is! Plus, don’t miss the free onsen(hot spring) and shuttle buses to the ski resort.
My wife and I Liked our stay at Furano Fenix very much. Everything are very good during our stay. Love the deco & fittings of the room and lobby area. Bathroom & toilet are nicely layout, and bigger than most hotels in Japan. If a couple of clothes hooks can be provided at the bathroom door will be perfect. Breakfast are adequate and good.
The cleanliness of the house, the excellent washing machine which dries all my clothes at the same time. Hiro was an excellent host too! He drove us to our ski resort and more importantly helped us get around Furano after we couldn’t get our rental car. He charged us very affordable rates too! Thank you for saving our holiday!
Loved the hostess who welcomed my husband and I every day and drove us to the ski lift each morning and to the train station the day we left. The beds were comfortable and the facilities clean. I enjoyed the hot bath every night. We would absolutely stay here again on our next snowboarding trip to Furano.
Convenient hotel near the ski slopes. Old school japanese hotel. This could be a great hotel with some simple changes like improving the breakfast and positioning the chairs around the fire so that it had a more social feel. And why not have a small bar to serve beer etc.
This was our 2nd time staying in the hotel. Great location close to Furano town, next to Ningle Terrace and Forest Clock Cafe which
I like. Ski-in and -out is super convenience for the skiers. Front desk staffers were friendly and helpful.
Excellent chalet for a family of 4 to enjoy the lovely Furano skiing/snowboarding! Staff were very pleasant and helpful, picking us up and dropping us off when we arrived and left. Perfect place and perfect location!
The hotel is brand new and well designed. I love the lounge bar as well as the location close to the ski slope.
Large ski storage area with friendly staff
Onsite onsen is definitely a bonus!
The staff were very friendly. And there were a lot of signs in English. We had a breakfast every morning and it was delicious and full of Japanese flavors.
Modern and clean. Big windows with great view. Nice hot springs. Free ice cream after hot spring!
We enjoyed this hotel! Oh and breakfast was great too!
