Nestled in the Eskdale Valley, Bower House Inn is 4 miles from the Cumbrian coast. This 17th century 3 star inn offers superb food in its restaurant and rooms with private bathrooms.
Atop one of England’s most beautiful valleys, Woolpack Inn is a 20-minute drive from the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. It is surrounded by scenic hiking trails, and offers real ales and free Wi-Fi.
The Eskdale is a purpose built YHA hostel set in its own extensive grounds. Ideally located to explore the Lake District, this affordable accommodations is nestled in a picturesque setting.
1692 Wasdale is closed to Gosforth and features a garden, terrace and shared lounge. Rooms include a patio with a sea view. At the hotel, the rooms come with a desk.
Located in Broughton in Furness, 19 miles from World of Beatrix Potter, NEWFIELD INN has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.
I can't fit this on a simple review. If you like the great outdoors just go and explore. One of my favourite spots in Cumbria. No lake, but it makes up for this in scenery and crystal clear mountain streams.

Ganny cottage was the perfect choice for a relaxing weekend...
Ganny cottage was the perfect choice for a relaxing weekend away with our dog. There are so many amazing walks from the doorstep and there are some lovely dog friendly pubs in Boot which you can find on foot. The food and service in the Brook house Inn was great. We Recommend the Stanley Ghyll waterfall, it was spectacular, and only a short walk from the cottage.

Eskdale is a small village near Wasdale so it is not too far from Scafell etc.. Cumbria and the Lakes is a huge area with limited access by road so staying near your plans of adventure is a quite key now (fuel) and time on the road. I have stayed in Eskdale (the area) quite a few times now in different accommodation. It is what I want ie staying in the countryside of this beautiful place, you have your village shop and pubs and inns, leave your woes on a tree somewhere well before you get there and feel the tranquillity of why you came in the first place.

Eskdale is a wonderfully quiet part of the Lake district...
Eskdale is a wonderfully quiet part of the Lake district with stunning views and a good base for exploring Wasdale with all its mountains and the spectacular Wastwater. Also access to the little railway and the passes over to Landgdale and the busy Lake district. All roads out of Eskdale have great views. It is even handy for the unspoiled coastline. One of the best places to get away from the crowds.

Eskdale is for walkers.
Eskdale is for walkers. The paths we trod had clear signposts. The paths were well used. We were fortunate with the weather and the views were amazing. But that is what we went for.
We also travelled on the Ravenglass Eskdale miniature railway which is always great fun.It is enjoyed by all ages.
I would avoid walking on any of the roads. The hotel is on the road which leads to Hardknott and Wrynose Passes and some (not all) drivers, clearly from a city environment, are so intent on crossing the passes they have no consideration for any people walking along the roads.
The actual road surface could do with a lot of patching. Eskdale has more than its fair share of potholes!
Fantastic and beautiful location with great views of hills all around. Drying room was much appreciated after a soaking in the hills! You can enjoy the lounge and other public facilities before or after check-in/check-out. The restaurant and bar (dinner and breakfast only) menu looked good although I only used the bar. Lots of fridge space and everything you could want in the kitchen. Beds were comfy and showers were good. I don’t know how they can provide so many facilities for such a good price.
We stayed in Lamplugh house at Irton hall in a group of 5.. got there late after Scafell Pike but the hotel staff were very nice and accommodating as we had a meal booked but had to change the time..
There was a log fire with wood to burn in the property which was lovely after we came in from the cold although it has central heating..
wish we stayed longer as it was a lovely place and will be booking again ..
The whole experience was excellent. The rooms were excellent. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Irton Hall has a wonderful location and if I was returning to the Eskdale area I would certainly book to stay there again. It describes itself as a hidden gem and it certainly is. A stay with no negatives other than some very rainy weather but cannot blame the hotel for that.
Fantastic cozy Inn. Rooms lovley, warm and clean. Pub was friendly with very good food , good atmosphere, and good quality for money. Son played in the park and there were goals up, so he was happy. Wifi didn’t work in eskdale room. But worked fab everywhere downstairs. Breakfast- we all had something different from the menu both mornings. Plenty of choice. Location in a beautiful location
On the description of the hotel it said it was one of the oldest hotels in the lakes which was really cool, the images however absolutely did not replicate the place. It was so run down ragged and stinky. My images of the room are to show how astonishing and completely gobsmacked i was by this
Wonderfully clean and comfortable guest house, with beautiful views of Eskdale. Lovely hospitality from Connie and Kate, with good walking advice. Beautiful conservatory from which to eat breakfast and watch the birds and red squirrels feed. Great location for walking, running, and cycling.
Spot on location central to some fantastic walks in the Eskdale valley, friendly staff, lovely variety of food and drinks (Wood fired Pizza oven on site) plenty of parking, friendly laid back accomadating atmosphere, comfortable clean rooms, a great place to stay
Staff were very friendly. Room was lovely and warm comfortable with a nice modern bathroom. Limited menu next door in the pub due to to time of year. Nice walk behind the hotel and plenty of others around. Quite remote very peaceful.
great location and Pele tower was ideal for a big group with the games room being a nice extra. staff were very pleasant and the hotel bar was great. we had a great stay and thought it offered good value.
The hotel itself is a little tired but otherwise comfortable. The food is excellent, hearty fare with a good selection of beer and wine. It is an ideal location to explore the western lakes.
The location is fantastic: overlooking the Eskdale Railway. It’s a beautiful old house with gorgeous reception rooms! If I’d wanted to cook, the communal kitchen had everything I’d need.
We liked everything about it, staff were friendly and made us welcome rooms were clean and comfortable and plenty on the menu to choose from and enjoyed both breakfast and evening meal.
Lovely, comfortable room. Great dinner menu with plenty of choice for vegetarians and vegans. Cosy and characterful inn in a quiet and scenic location.
