From the moment we were picked up to the moment we got the bus back the hotel service was exceptional. We took the breakfast and dinner option and every day was the most comfortable experience.
We were in Hakuba for skiing. There was a rental place a 5 min walk away which we were able to charge to our room (at the end of the trip they returned the gear for us) and every day when we went to ski they prepared our gear by the door for us on the way out and took us with our gear to Happo. At the end of the day they came to get us after a quick call and upon our arrival our shoes were waiting at the door for us to change into.
The staff went over and above to help us with whatever we needed. Although it wasn't our first trip to Hakuba and we pretty much only went there for skiing this time, they gave us guides on what we could do in the area. They were kind and understanding, and especially sweet to our 4 y/o daughter.
The included food was really good, including the kids options, and I was pleasantly surprised every evening.
The room had this cozy random vibe to it with interesting furnishings and also an amazing jacuzzi in it with a view of the snow falling onto the trees outside
I would highly recommend staying here - we had an amazing time.

Good skiing with everything you need within close proximity.
Good skiing with everything you need within close proximity. However, if you are looking for an authentic Japanese exeprience, you are not going to find it in Hakuba. There are a lot of foreigners and many of the establishment workers are foreigners as well.

The buses to get to other ski fields and around Happo One...
The buses to get to other ski fields and around Happo One are somewhat confusing but it seems that there are more buses than on the timetables so that is a bonus. Many lifts start at 8am, so ideally one would have breakfast at 6:30 so one could get an early bus, but may be a challenge finding accommodation that does this.

It’s a ski and snow lover paradise. A small town with not so much city vibe, but best for snow or ski experience. It’s the idyllic charm that stands out for me. Everything u need for snow and ski experience is available there, for rent or to buy.

Snow was great, the town was very cute.
Snow was great, the town was very cute. Most of all, it wasn't that busy and lift have good space. Plenty of slops to choose from, and great restaurants, shops to go around after ski. Especially onsen was one of the great thing to add after the ski!

Hakuba is great and very welcoming.
Hakuba is great and very welcoming. The people and food are amazing. The skiing was great given the snow levels were lower than normal. The only thing to keep in mind is the bus service, while convenient can get crowded and does not run as much as it maybe should. A car would definitely be a great asset to have.
From the moment we arrived at the bus terminal in Hakuba, we were met by Grant who took us to pick up our hire car.
Darren and his staff were friendly and helpful at all times, organising restaurant bookings and offering a ride to dinner if
needed. We had a two-bedroom apartment for our family of four and it was well-equipped, clean and spacious.
The location is peaceful and within walking distance from Happo One.
The bath came in handy after a long day skiing :)
The drying room downstairs was much appreciated too!
The property is well located, clean, equipped with a beautiful onsen, interesting restaurant with traditional Japanese style cuisine and wonderful views of the mountains. However, above all else, the Tokyo has an amazing staff. All we’re kind, welcoming and helpful. In particular, the younger gentleman working the ski rental facility was able to answer all of our questions and ensured we had what we needed for a great day on the slopes at Happo One. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Owner was very endearing. Had snacks ready after a day on the slopes. Futon was a bit too stiff, but I was able to get another layer to reach my comfort level. Having a kotatsu in house was a nice touch. Having access to an onsen on property also made recovery after day on slopes worth it. Drying room for ski equipment was welcomed.
Speaking of slopes, Happo One is a 10 ish minute walk. Very doable even with all equipment on. Woody the nearby ski rental shop also nice.
Mickey and Mary were amazing hosts! They really do care and that starts even before you get to their lovely little place in Hakuba. They cook up amazing breakfasts that change every day and they are willing to go the extra mile and shuttle you to and from the nearby Tsugaike ski resort. The rooms are generously sized for Japanese standards and are clean and comfortable. I would recommend anyone wanting a ski holiday in Hakuba to stay at Summer Leaves.
The place is an old charming Japanese house with a very warm family atmosphere. The house is more spacious and beautiful than looks in the pictures, and it is very well equipped - you can easily use kitchen with all necessary appliances, washing machine, hair dryer, etc.
The location is superb - very close to Hakuba station, a big supermarket, onsen, coffee shop / Snow Peak.
The host is very polite and helpful, check-in and check-out were very easy.
The house is in a great location. Close to echoland area, bus stop for ski resorts, and a great onsen a three minute walk away. Our room was fantastic with four beds and a lounge area with a kotatsu table that was super cozy after a day on the slopes.I could tell the owners like antiques because the house was very nicely decorated with them. The breakfast and dinner at the house was amazing! Home cooked, delicious and filling.
I Loved Starlight Azumi but enjoyed the experience provided by the Japanese family who hosts and owns Starlight Azumi, a real sense of living in the snowy area of Hakuba, with family photos displayed throughout, you definitely get a feel of a genuinely cozy family run pension.
I loved it and stayed for 10 nights with plans to return next year,
Very reasonably priced and very central. You could very easily walk to Happo One.
Naomi picked us up from Kamishiro station which was very helpful and also dropped us at the bus stop on our check-out day.
The breakfast and dinner are great. Koki-san and Naomi-san are very friendly and happy to help us if we have any questions.
There is a bus stop in front of the hotel that can drop us into Goryu ski resort. If you want to go to the other resorts, you need to take another bus.
The staffs, Albert and his wife, are super nice, friendly, and helpful. They know about the area and can give you a good recommendation. The place is close to Hakuba Goryu Ski Resort, around 10 mins walk. The room is spacious and clean. The vibe inside the lodge is very cozy and warm. Bonus: can beer from the automated selling machine in the vicinity is cheap and reasonable.
Amazing Japanese hospitality and very knowledgeable hosts. I was originally planning on snowboarding at Happo One but because conditions were not great, they recommended Hakuba Goryu and it was a perfect day on the mountain. Hosts were also able to recommend a great dinner spot which capped off a great stay. Looking forward to coming back to Hakuba and staying again!
All staffs are friendly and helpful. The room is nice clean and spacious. The foods at the site restaurant were great. I felt so good to sink into warm bath pool after I had snowboarding for whole days. The hotel also provided drop-off and pick-up service.
The hotel is just about 3 minutes walking distance to Hakuba Happo One skiing resort.
The apartment was sizeable and comfortable, a wonderful choice for a family of four. The location is excellent, just a 5-minutes walk to the pick-up and drop-off point for anyone wanting to take the shuttle from other Hakuba ski resorts. Soulza was immensely friendly and helpful and made our week-long ski vacation an exceptional one.
The location was great and it was easy to walk to the buses in Echoland. Most of the staff were English speaking Beau and Tom were super helpful with town info and driving us to Hakuba47, Goryu and Happo-one. The beds were great and the breakfast was definitely worth getting. The dining room had an awesome view of the mountains.
The hospitality of the owners and the well maintained hostel. All four mornings of my stay, the owners went their way to ask about where I’ll be visiting and gave me local information including 20-30% discounts on ski resort passes. The facility had a garden theme while keeping warmth and cleanness in Hakuba winter -10/10
The chair lift at Sakru 2 is just 30 away from the hotel. It is rather convenient to access Happo one. However you would need to buy the ski ticket in advance at the ticket office because the chair lift station did not provide sales of ski passes. Use the short cut via Petit hotel shitaka for faster access to chair lift.
It is very clean and surprisingly spacious for Japan standard. The location is excellent, just a 5 minute walk to Happo One ski resort and to the bus terminal as well. The onsen, although not big was a bonus in the hotel. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Great location close to Echoland, 200 meters from hakuba base camp and also within walking distance of happo one (can catch bus from base camp also). Excellent staff that are super friendly! also great view of the mountains!
Located right next to the Hakuba Goryu slopes, so you can literally ski in & out. The excellent service by hotel manager Marcos made our stay very comfortable. The room had everything we needed, incl. fully supplied kitchen.
Awesome location to Happo One resort, dining and shops. The apartment was nice sized for our family of 4 and clean. All the staff was very friendly and really helpful!
