Upgraded this season
(2004-5), with faster processor.The Ortovox X1 is a combined Digital-Analogue
transceiver that is very easy to use. The Ortovox X1 will behave like
an analogue transeiver during the first part of the search, that means
the searcher uses the strength of the audio signal to determine the best
direction. This gives the greatest range. At about 20m the unit will automatically
switch to digital mode and give a distance and direction indication in
metres. Once under 2m the searcher is just about on top of the victim
and the X1 guides you in using sound and distance reading only. The Ortovox
X1 combines the benefits of both analogue and digital technology, Same
casing as the proven F1, with a simple body strap which ensures unit is
switched on when worn.
